To have had a large ham sandwich for breakfast

I am 11 weeks pregnant, but still. It's the second morning I've done it.

Normal here too (Belgium - where they are very keen on their pork products!). We often have ham with bread for breakfast. It's good to have a tiny bit of protein with every meal.

They also produce a very mild Gouda cheese (a bit like hard butter but milder in taste) which you put between a slice of bread and dip in to coffee!

Personally cannot stand the texture or taste of milk so never touch cereal although will often eat a banana or have apple compote and a granary biscuit, or a boiled egg.

In my far away student days in the UK, I used to love left over onion bhajis for breakfast although I doubt if I could stomach them now!

What's the diffence between a ham sandwich and a bacon sandwich, other then the way the pork has been cured.

I had this argument with DH as he finds it odd that dd1 will have a ham sandwich for breakfast personally I don't care as long as she has something to eat.

Not the ideal thing for breakfast - you need cold pizza

catsofa · 22/09/2014 20:13

I am also pregnant and also had a ham sandwich for breakfast. It wasn't naice ham it was crap ham, but with loads of mustard and mayo so it was ok.

Cold pizza is disgusting! I love saturated fat when it's hot because it's all tasty and crispy and shiny, but when it goes cold it's like biting into a slice of lard.

I have also eaten six packets of pickled onion flavour monster munch this evening, and my tongue hurts a bit.

OMG I so neeeeeed a bacon sandwich right now, why did I have to go and read about food?!?

formerbabe · 22/09/2014 20:45

Ham sandwich is a perfectly acceptable breakfast. I hate toast and cereal...so bland and cardboardy!

Sandthorn · 22/09/2014 20:49

Ham sandwich is fine. Hamwidge, however...

I had two fairy cakes with buttercream.

Actually, DH brought them in for elevenses, but as I hadn't had breakfast, yet, they were effectively a late breakfast.

Sandwiches for breakfast is a popular thing. There are loads of ideas for what people now call 'breakfast sandwiches'
Makes sense to me. Today I had a goats cheese, pepper and spinach panini from a coffee shop.

Not read past first post, don't even think being pregnant is relevant.

As an adult eat whatever you want whenever you want!

Cake for breakfast being one example Grin

Obviously certain things on a regular basis will make you fat p/damage your health (please refer to cake) but as an adult that is your choice

catsofa · 22/09/2014 21:58

I often have biscuits for breakfast and all my friends used to take the piss, now someone is marketing special breakfast biscuits and it's totally normal, they are digestive biscuits but cost about five times as much as normal digestive biscuits because they say you can have them for breakfast on the packet.

So I just went to the shop for some bacon but on the way I saw the word salmon somewhere so I got salmon and then I thought of chicken pie and absolutely had to have chicken pie so now there are two (both for me) in the oven at 10pm.

I don't think that being pregnant is entirely irrelevant...
