i just like to know how to deal with these youths that ride up and down our road and pavements late at night on there scooters causing a disturbance, they dont live in our road and are only hanging around thanks to the local drug dealers. the police dont want to know they were called 4 time in less than an hour and just didnt turn up. why give it the name ASB if there not going to enforce some kind of punishment.

What time is 'late at night'?

In your shoes I would keep calling the police again and again until they did something if they are causing that much of a disturbance.

Do you mean scooters as in the child's toy or the motorbike kind?

hotfuzzra · 21/09/2014 12:56

I imagine the police in your area have more to deal with on a Saturday night than deal with ASB which rightly takes a lower priority than alcohol fuelled violence, domestic abuse etc
However it is poor if (supposing they haven't already told you) they don't call you back to say they will increase PCSO patrols or pay passing attention when they have available units.
It is very annoying and I do sympathise with you.

Try phoning the council rather than the police in the first instance. Also, talk to your neighbours. If you all ring then they are more likely to take it seriously. Also, it would make a difference if you mean tweens on foot powered scooters, or older teenagers on petrol motor scooters. If the latter and they are on the pavement then police again highlighting the danger to pedestrians. I would try to take some photos too.

Go into your local police station and ask to speak to someone about it. As Pumpkins suggests, take photos and maybe videos.

Stress the drug dealing activity to them. They might be more interested in that.

ILovePud · 21/09/2014 16:45

I agree with Sooty, the drug dealing is the angle to approach the police about, from what you say they are only hanging around in your street because of the dealers so if they are dealt with then hopefully the scooter youths will be dealt with too as a by-product.

Get one of those noise disturbers that only teenagers can hear - that will keep them away
