How long was labour for your 4th? Please come and tell me your stories!

Just that really! All my previous labours have been 20-30 hours so although we have just moved house and we're now 90 minutes from the hospital, I've been feeling quite relaxed about getting there in plenty of time.

In the last few days lots of friends have been telling me stories of how their 3rd/4th child was born in 17 minutes ... and other equally shocking fast labour stories!

I've had insomnia for the past 3 nights. Baby has definitely 'dropped' as I can't go an hour without needing the loo now. Feeling so achey and tender too, but no contractions yet.

What were your 4th labours like? Please come and help me pass the time as I'm just waiting for something to happen!

Congratulations !!!
I have 5 dc and from what I remember, (the memory of pain truly does fade!) they were about an hour from really bloody painful to babe in arms.
Honestly don't wait until you can't stand the pain with a 90 minute journey to make.
Good luck.

All of mine were really long and 4 was no different!

Good luck. Won't be long Flowers

I don't think I'll be much help. My fourth was my only induction, and my longest labour, 12 hours all together. She's as stubborn now as she was then Smile

Good Luck!!

Number 4 was breach, thankfully it was quick. By the time DH had called family to look after the others, he was already delivered.

Fishlegs · 20/09/2014 23:01

My first was 12 hours, 2nd and 3rd were both 6 hours, then dc4 was 90 min. Had a lot of stop start contractions for a couple of weeks before though.

My midwife kept telling me that by 4 my uterus was like an old engine, it would take a long time to get going, then it would go like the clappers. Utterly charming, but she was right!

AppleCrumples · 20/09/2014 23:08

My first 3 were long (and late). Dc4 was 3 hours! Plus only 10 mins from 5 cm to baby arriving (I did not push)

Good luck Smile

Molio · 20/09/2014 23:09

My fourth was my second longest up to that point in terms of length of labour.

Thousandstars · 20/09/2014 23:11

Thanks for all the good lucks! Love the old engine analogy!

My 3rd was my longest, but was back to back and the largest baby so that may well have had something to do with the length of labour.

Mine were all relatively short but dc4 was longer than dc 3. Realised I was in established labour at about 7:30 am, after a discussion with DH as to whether he should go to work or not!, finally gave birth to dc4 slightly prior to 11am, a long un for me. We had rung my mum also at 7:30 to ask her to come and babysit other dc, she lives about 70 mins away and arrived about 1 pm just in time for lunch, she had popped in for a paper on the way [ hmm] DH wondered if she had pulped the wood chip to print it on ( to me)

Hobnobissupersweet · 20/09/2014 23:23

Oh and have the baby at home, we are also rural and GP suggested I had dc3 at home to avoid the layby delivery that is not uncommon in these parts!

Thousandstars · 20/09/2014 23:26

I don't think I could manage without pain relief to have it at home. I'm someone that's screaming for an epidural at 3cm ..... thought I had a high pain threshold before babies but apparently not!

First was three days.

Second was seven hours.

Third was three hours.

Fourth was under an hour.

Fifth was three hours, however she was back to back, midwife saod she would have shot out had she been the right way round.

No 4 was 10lb 13oz and born in birth pool the easiest Labour of my five.
