I think you might have cut the story too short Confused

Fairylea · 18/09/2014 17:45

Why has that made you lose faith in people? .

LEMmingaround · 18/09/2014 17:45

Drop your price

FreeSpirit89 · 18/09/2014 17:45

Your trying to sell your house next to a travellers sight, no one is interested and your losing faith in people?

YABU - patience.

If it is meant to be......

ithoughtofitfirst · 18/09/2014 18:23

Well, that wasn't what i expected.

MrsBoldon · 18/09/2014 18:27

Unfortunately a lot of people have preconceived notions of living near a traveller site and also have some evidence (major news story either last year or the year before I can't remember!) to suggest that traveller communities don't always leave sites when they're supposed to so you saying 'vacated in three years' may not be convincing.

Are people scared of/just don't understand traveller communities?. Yes. Is that fine? No. Does it mean you should ' lose faith in people'?. Not really.

ILovePud · 18/09/2014 18:28

I don't understand the set up with the travellers site, it's currently under construction but has to be vacated in 3 years? Have the travellers caused you to lose faith in other people because you think they shouldn't be building on this site or are you upset by the people who don't want to buy your house, because you think that speaks to a prejudice against travellers?

DoJo · 18/09/2014 18:29

Who have you lost faith in? FWIW, I live near a permanent travellers' site and it certainly hasn't affected the housing market around here - perhaps it's the uncertainty rather than the site itself that is putting people off...?

ilovechristmas1 · 18/09/2014 18:30

have you lost faith because people wont even entertain the thought of living near a travellers site

if thats what you mean sorry i would not even consider it myself

rent yours if possible if you want that dream house

ilovechristmas1 · 18/09/2014 18:32

sorry but that site could be another Dale Farm, look how long that took to dismantle

Joysmum · 18/09/2014 18:34

Anything will sell at a price, question is, are you willing to sell at that price?

grannymcphee · 20/09/2014 19:06

OK you are disappointed that people don't want to buy you your house because there is going to be a traveller site close by. I understand that you have found your 'dream' house, but what made you look for it in the first place? Could it have been because of the threat of a traveller site close by? Under those circumstances, I wouldn't buy your house even if you were selling it for one pound!!!

hiddenhome · 20/09/2014 19:14

People always struggle to sell their houses if they're near travellers sites. You can't blame people for not wanting to live near them. I'm in a area where there's lots of travellers and they're not popular due to the mess and stuff being stolen.

maddening · 20/09/2014 21:06

Rent it out - you.might have to be less picky with tenants as less will be happy to live there so could you take some equity out of current house to make deposit for a second and rent out old house for same as mortgage ?

greenfolder · 21/09/2014 08:22

If your move is utterly dependent on selling your house rather than renting it I would strongly suggest you stop looking until it is sold. Less painful all round.
