I feel sorry for this church, they shouldn't get this much trouble just because they are a polling station

Polling Station Vandalised

Apatite1 · 18/09/2014 11:09

I'm not in Scotland, Scottish or even British (i do live in England) but following your historic referendum closely. Whatever happens today, I hope the atmosphere remains optimistic in Scotland and doesn't turn sour. The right to vote is tremendously important and a strong turnout is heartening to see. Good luck to all voters!

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 18/09/2014 11:09

WEEBITH you are right, it's scary that some people are allowed to vote. Someone on one of the threads has decided on a yes vote down to IDS charging a £36 breakfast to expenses. I mean WTAF? Does she think other politicians eat a banana in their rooms?

IrnBruTheNoo · 18/09/2014 11:11

I can't even get any housework done for fretting about this result. It's dominated my life these past few weeks.

chocoluvva · 18/09/2014 11:12

squoosh - Grin Shock Blush

AnnieHoo · 18/09/2014 11:13

latte Grin I saw that just before I went to sleep. Does she know about Alex Salmond's expenses!?

His plans to build a tunnel from Governors House to Holyrood are a sign of what's to come.

SirChenjin · 18/09/2014 11:13

Or the infamous Alex Salmond trews at a cost to the taxpayer of £259.40? There are some voters who really shouldn't be allowed to vote if they are basing their decision on something as spurious as IDS's breakfast.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 11:14

Same here Irnbru

Why are people planning to move if it's a majority Yes?! We need more nursery staff!

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 11:15

Hahaha!

Dear lord daughter hasn't this been done to death? If you vote yes and keep the pound because it is yours, then it's the Bank of England that is holding the purse strings. I'm kind of assuming they speak to the Chancellor on a regular basis and that they will act in the best interests of the rUK and not some tiny country practically at the start of the Arctic Circle using the currency illegally who no one will do business with and who can't stand a cats chance in hell of getting into the Euro with no central bank. Which in itself is the opposite of fiscal independence.

It is not independence without your own currency. So show me where the currency strategy is.

So tell me, in that scenario, who is kidding who?

And perhaps I may just have a smidgen of knowledge about it which I can't discuss on an open forum.

And perhaps I also know that change is happening because if certain yes voters (not all of you some are lovely and I am enjoying the solidarity come what may approach on this thread) removed their heads from their rear ends, they would realise this is not a problem unique to Scotland. Look beyond your own borders.

IrnBruTheNoo · 18/09/2014 11:15

Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon deserve to get themselves a wee holiday somewhere sunny after all this campaigning. I had something in my eye last night watching them both make their speeches.

ChelsyHandy · 18/09/2014 11:15

IrnBru Why are people planning to move if it's a majority Yes?! We need more nursery staff!

More state informers surely? Sorry local government safety officers, or whatever they decide to call them.

SirChenjin · 18/09/2014 11:16

Oh yes, those free nursery places Grin. I'm willing to bet money that these places for everyone won't be forthcoming - along with most of the other stuff we've been (kinda, sorta, a bit vaguely) promised.

squoosh · 18/09/2014 11:16

I had something in my eye too. It made them roll a lot.

Spiritedwolf · 18/09/2014 11:16

DH is feeling pretty unwelcome at the moment, he's not sure that he wants to bring up our wolfcubs here. His job isn't at particular risk - though it is Public Sector... so if we have to build up reserves for Sterlingisation nothing's certain.

As for me, I'll be renewing my British Passport and getting wolfcub one. I feel uncomfortable with the atmosphere around the referendum too, and I don't like the current Scottish government's instinct for controlling and bullying. But I think I'd wait and see how things turn out. We don't have the resources to leave at the moment (rent from the LA, single income etc). I'm sure DH would be keeping an eye out for jobs in England though.

chocoluvva · 18/09/2014 11:16

Alex whar's yer troosers?

spirited -Blush thank you for your posts. Now I know why speakers avoid naming people during thank you speeches.

squoosh · 18/09/2014 11:17

It's gonna be a Scandi wonderland without the Scandi tax rates doncha know.

Cambiodenombre · 18/09/2014 11:17

irn I don't get your comment about nursery workers? Have I had a complete sense of humour failure?

WEEBITHILLANDGLEN · 18/09/2014 11:18

AArgh. This doing my head in. By the way I don`t think our country is any more intolerant than any other country. I suppose it is where you live but I love our town.

livingzuid · 18/09/2014 11:19

squoosh Grin

chocoluvva · 18/09/2014 11:19

The weans are gonna be looked after in nurseries for free to create more employment and a fairer and more just country. Cambio

chocoluvva · 18/09/2014 11:20

But only free weancare if we vote yes.

SirChenjin · 18/09/2014 11:20

Apparently so squoosh. Never mind that Norway has one of the highest levels of personal debt in Europe - free Akvavit, picked herring and the pick of Ikea all round!

livingzuid · 18/09/2014 11:21

Yes there have been some very balanced posts. I do find it hard to not froth at the mouth but I guess that goes for both sides Blush these threads have been excellent.
