AIBU to suggest to my DS that we make his postman pat cupcakes when we get home from nursery, as I've got a sugar craving??

Go for it

Pig in!

YANBU, what a lovely wholesome activity, you're probably the best mum ever for baking with DS entirely for his benefit

BettyFocker · 16/09/2014 19:01

If it's those cake mix ones from Ocado then don't do it. They were awful.

And I bake amazing cakes from scratch on a weekly basis so it wasn't my skills, honest.

Waltonswatcher · 16/09/2014 21:05

What's with this cup cake tosh ?
I don't it.
With icing - fairy cakes
Without icing - buns .
Hope they were tasty either way though !

Bambambini · 16/09/2014 21:11

Nice to do it with him, he'll have fun - but "sugar craving" you say. Get thee a big fuck off bar of chocolate. Cupcakes won't even touch the side of your craving!

Waltonswatcher I agree with your definitions of fairy cakes versus buns. However, my understanding of cupcake is that they are those ghastly, oversized buns with about half an inch of sickly icing on top. They seem to be terribly popular these days. There are even shops specializing in them - although they never seem to stay in business for very long.

Give me a nice scone any day.

Waltonswatcher · 16/09/2014 22:54

Scones are the preferred choice of many a Walton - but how are we pronouncing that ?!
Cup cakes are vulgar .
Heavy cake - now that was a childhood treat .

5Foot5 · 17/09/2014 08:29

I asked the maid in dulcet tone
To order me a buttered scone
The silly girl has been and gone
And ordered me a buttered scone.

TBH I don't feel strongly either way but I do tend to rhyme with "gone", most of the time.

Bambamini - yes chocolate bar would hit the spot, but none to be had in the house. Waltonswatcher - I kind of missed the whole cupcake craze so just getting into them now. I agree they are fairy cakes but I'm just calling them what it said on the box. This being my first foray into a box mix (normally do all from scratch), I'm happy to say my DS loved it, and I enjoyed eating them Smile

Now a scone (rhyming with gone) with jam and clotted cream, that would definitely be on the menu for afternoon tea for me.

No no
It's scone rhyming with cone !
With raspberry jam .
The perfect Sunday night tea.
