How much would you pay...

Our next door neighbours teenage son (13/14ish) will be washing/hoovering our car later today. How much would you pay him? I asked him what he charges and I think he was too embarrassed to come up with a figure. DH suggested £10, is that enough?

I would think a tenner but would ask him first if that is ok.

Littledidsheknow · 15/09/2014 09:17

I paid two local boys £5 recently to wash mine (though I did beat them down from £7!). With 15 minutes extra to hoover £10 seems about right, or even slightly generous.

Floralnomad · 15/09/2014 09:20

£10 is what it costs me at the local hand car wash so it sounds about right to me.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 15/09/2014 09:21

£10 is totally fine!

WiseGuysHighRise · 15/09/2014 09:24

I thought 10 seemed generous. I'd sooner pay that though and have someone do it thean do it myself.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 15/09/2014 09:27

I pay 15 to have mine done at a Garden Centre - this is inside cleaned, hoovered, outside washed, dried, light polish and includes wheels cleaned & 'blacked' and all glass inside and outside.

10 seems a lot to pay a child to do it.

BreadForBrains · 15/09/2014 09:37

I pay £22 for a proper valet clean, a tenner seems reasonable for a kid providing he's doing a half decent job of it.

MrsWinnibago · 15/09/2014 09:37

Oh a tenner is fine. Latte 15 is big enough to do as good a job as an adult...not QUITE a child in one way as many 15 year olds have jobs and work well.

MrsWinnibago · 15/09/2014 09:39

OP if he's good, recommend him to your neighbours bless him....at least he's trying to be innovative! I wish a local kid would offer to weed my path!

19lottie82 · 15/09/2014 09:47

you pay £10 for a professional mini valet down my way and £5 for a wash and hoover.

I'd pay him £5, £10 is too much.

WhereHas1999DissappearedToo · 15/09/2014 09:50

I would pay a fiver, maybe a tenner if they did a brilliant job.

Loopylala7 · 16/09/2014 22:13

Paid him £12 in the end, bless him, he took nearly 3 hours and did a fantastic job! He seemed pretty chuffed with his pay packet too. My mum even thought we'd had it professionally done. Will be recommending him to all the neighbours :)

I think £12 for 3 hours work is very reasonable. I bet he was chuffed!

theoldtrout01876 · 16/09/2014 22:54

Bugger me !!

I just paid $200 to have my car "detailed" before I sold it to Ds1. Thought I was getting a good deal too

mamasilla · 16/09/2014 23:39

5£

comfycushion · 17/09/2014 07:27

£10
