To be annoyed that DH is refusing to take my cake into work

..... Because it's too childlike

It's a practice run for my son bday party. Ok so it's not great, a bit soggy but really it's sodding chocolate cake -surely it can't be that embarrassing to take into work.

AIBU to be offended

Seem to have spent all weekend arguing with DH

Albertatata · 14/09/2014 19:22

I'm thinking I might LT ungrateful B.

He has taken my other baking into his work so apparently they are used to a certain standard.

Sod.

Not been arguing about this particular matter all weekend. But beginning to think this is the straw ...

Maybe I am difficult to live with .... Maybe I just don't think any chocolate cake can be That bad!

Why would you pressurize somebody to take a cake into work that by your own admission is not great? You sound unhinged, do the decent thing and turn them into cake-pops instead

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 14/09/2014 19:23

When you say soggy is it inedible?

Why can't men take cakes to work? At my DH's work they take turns to bake a cake, he enjoys it.

Albertatata · 14/09/2014 19:23

He suggested I take to my sons nursery instead

OP posts:
Iggly · 14/09/2014 19:25

Take it into your own work?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 14/09/2014 19:30

How does taking a cake into work 'show the office who you are as a family'?

I thought it was a bit daft of OP's husband not to take it in but, if that is what it means then it's a bit creepy really, proprietorial and 'property marking' and I wouldn't do it either. Confused

Lifesalemon · 14/09/2014 19:32

Maybe I'm missing something but why does the cake have to be taken anywhere. Can it not just be eaten at home by all the family.

MegMogandOwlToo · 14/09/2014 19:32

YABU.

It's nice of you to offer the cake to him to take into work, but I don't understand why you are upset that he doesn't want to.

Also the comment re showing the office who you are as a family is odd.. And sounds very possessive.

Patrickstarisabadbellend · 14/09/2014 19:35

Tell him that I said he's a gobshite.

Can I have the cake? Grin

2minsofyourtime · 14/09/2014 19:38

Why can't you respect his choice not to take it into work? If he doesn't want to why are you trying to force him?

Albertatata · 14/09/2014 19:39

Did I make a comment about who we are as a family? Maybe it was a typo.

I'm on mat leave

It's not my finest creation (hence DHs reluctance) but certainly edible

Mind you I eat anything with chocolate in so I may have low standards.

It's probably a sign I should try a different recipe for the birthday party

OP posts:
Fubsy · 14/09/2014 19:39

You could drop chocolate cake on the floor, sweep it up with a dustpan and brush and it would still disappear in a flash where I work.

Obviously your DH works in a genteel and stress free workplace. Wink

hormonalandneedingcheese · 14/09/2014 19:41

You argued all weekend? Why? Why not take it into your wok or son's nurrsey or even better eat the whole thing yourself?

Brightbutchilly · 14/09/2014 19:41

"Show who you are as a family"??

My DH is at work doing his job. I'm at work doing mine. Our family is completely irrelevant honour competence as professionals. Our colleagues know we are married have DC etc but neither of has family pics up on our desks. His colleagues have met me at the yearly Christmas dinner dance. My colleagues have never met him.

Brightbutchilly · 14/09/2014 19:42

^^ to our not honour .. iPhone!

WorraLiberty · 14/09/2014 19:43

Maybe I just don't think any chocolate cake can be That bad!

Why? It's just food and all food can taste bad if it's not made well.

I think taking it into the nursery is a good idea.

HaroldLloyd · 14/09/2014 19:43

If you took it to nursery you would have the other half of mumnset giving you beef!

Lock yourself in a room and eat it all.

I'd have some. If your DH worked in my office I would be very happy with a choccy cake, soggy bottom or not.

Albertatata · 14/09/2014 19:44

Where has this 'show who you are as a family' come from - I have never written that! Nor would I ever!

I'm just a bit pissed off that he doesn't like my cake! I have re read all my comment I have never written anything like that!

Very confused!

HaroldLloyd · 14/09/2014 19:44

But Worra, there will be fifty cocking threads on Monday about nursery giving PFBs cake.

Maybe you need to take it to a field and explode it?

Hoopalong · 14/09/2014 19:44

Soggy !? At least hetold you thetruth and does not to bin it on the way to work!

gogowow · 14/09/2014 19:45

We need a photo of the cake to decided if it's the way it looks that is putting him off from taking it to work.

Lifesalemon · 14/09/2014 19:45

It wasn't OP that made the who we are as a family comment.

We as a family, are a family who like cake. Any cake. I think you are BVU to be even thinking of giving the cake away! Even my worst attempts have ended up eaten as a pudding smothered with custard.

WorraLiberty · 14/09/2014 19:46

But Worra, there will be fifty cocking threads on Monday about nursery giving PFBs cake.

Haha! So true Grin

I second a controlled explosion.

Only1scoop · 14/09/2014 19:47

Op didn't make comment re taking the cake in 'showing who we are as a family'

How odd

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 14/09/2014 19:47

penisesarepink said it, OP, not you.
