To ask if you get a Christmas bonus, and if you do how big a percentage of your salary is it?

I found out tonight that my brother gets a whole months salary as a Christmas bonus. When I worked I got absolutely nothing. I always thought that getting nothing was normal. Or is everyone else out there getting loads of Christmas treats from their boss?

I worked for a small company of 4-5 people for the last 3 years.

I got a bonus of between 1-3k plus a Xmas trip with work to Paris one year, Rome another, Prague last year.

Also the standard Xmas meal out.

My boss was fucking. Hard work but very fair Smile

No. I work for a university so not very surprising.

Until very recently we got a Christmas tree from college woods, which I thought was really quaint and lovely, but that stopped.

Public sector, we haven't had Christmas decorations up as a show of respect for several years now - they always do the first round letters in December so traditionally its been... Well crap.

We get two hours in which we can take a team Christmas lunch (self paid) each year there is a great hohar about this being cancelled.

I get nothing other than a small present from the school, e.g. Some bottles of stuff or a piece of school branded clothing. Hubby usually gets about £400. We both earn over £35k.

DH works extra hours (incl working his days off) over Christmas, and gets an extra week's pay to compensate. He is in retail, and he earns it quite thoroughly!!!

isitsnowingyet · 14/09/2014 07:23

I work for the NHS. No, we don't get a flippin' bonus. Or as the previous poster said 'Ha ha ha ha'

Don't worry about what your brother gets or anyone else for that matter. That ain't what life's about. Or Christmas

TurnOverTheTv · 14/09/2014 07:24

Last year 7k, so about 10%.

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 14/09/2014 09:26

Private sector.

We get 2.5% of our annual salary capped at £500. But this is only if we hit a certain profit margin within that financial year. If we don't we get zilch.

vickibee · 14/09/2014 09:29

We get an Xmas tree and a voucher for a turkey

ByTheSea · 14/09/2014 09:35

I got just under 10% (of annual salary) discretionary bonus last year but we get it in March rather than at Christmas. I am hoping for more than that this year as for the last couple of months I have been working in a different role (promotion has been given to me but not formalised yet) so I should be retroactively paid or made up in the bonus.

JustAShopGirl · 14/09/2014 09:44

retail so get to work extra hours (paid at normal rate) on Xmas Eve and Boxing day......
