I like the gas ones that look like a real fire. I lived in a house with one. I actually prefer a real fire (smell, noise, need to tend and feed) but, if I couldn't have one, I'd get one of those gas coal looking ones.

I had a lovely gas fire before I moved, I wish I still had it as the log burner we have now is a massive pain in the arse. I know log burners are trendy but I loved being able to just switch the gas fire on as and when needed without having to deal with scraping out ash, dealing with the dust and persuading the bastard thing to stay lit.

We have an electric pretending log burner. Which is naff as fuck, But it was only a tenner from a car boot so I will embrace my naffness.

These one are naff, but you can get very nice ones.
