Having the worst period for years, incredible pain and if I didnt know for sure that I couldnt be PG, I would be wondering if it was another M/C :(

Saw a "friend" who said I looked rough and I explained and said I was taking the to McD's instead of cooking as I just cant stand for any period of time. She was horrified and said "but how long does it take to make a stir fry or cook some pasta?" I said too long at the moment and she implied I am being lazy.

I felt a bit tearful after that, which I know is silly, but AI really BU to chuck junk at them just this once? They have junk once a month (either McD's of KFC - vom) normally and a really good diet the rest of the time. Feel like shit now :(

Mccunt Grin made me REALLY LOL

AliceLidl · 11/09/2014 21:10

She's a nasty cow.

Firstly to tell you that you looked rough and then to carry on with making you feel like this when she knew how ill you were feeling.

She is indeed a McCunt.

And you are lovely. I mean, you really cheered me up recently, although you don't know that because I was using a temporary name and now I've found one I'm keeping for a while. I'd accidentally outed my last permanent name to DH and had trouble finding a new one that suited me, so was on a temporary one Grin

It's fine to give them something like this once in a while, and it wouldn't kill them to have something similar tomorrow either if you are still feeling bad.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

I'd love to know the relative nutritional merits of a kids happy meal versus pasta and jarred pesto. Once you remove the class issues my guess is they aren't a million miles apart.

For the record mine had "freezer medley" for tea as I was also feeling grim.

Hope you feel better soon OP.

My unwavering support for the OP aside, I think they are.

kormasutra · 11/09/2014 21:54

Yanbu op.
I'm suffering the same thing and my ds unexpectedly brought his new friend home from secondary school.
Picture the scene, house like shit creek and me looking like I've been dragged through a hedge.
Hadn't thought about dinner at that point and felt awful in general, cue" why not have a chippy tea as a special treat tonight as friend is here"
Problem solved:)
Sometimes its ok to not be supermum, I can only imagine ds's friends mum's reaction to what they had but I did what I thought was best according to the situation.
Hopefully she won't hold it against us!!
Next time he comes ( with warning ) I will make something home cooked and wholesome.
I hope you feel better soon.

You probably could have made pasta quicker and it probably is classifiable as lazy. Who cares! You wanted to eat something that's not amazingly healthy that involved no mental effort, with no clearing up. Hope yu enjoyed it.

Last night we had oven chips, breaded chicken and mixed veg from the freezer, with packet curry sauce on the side. It was marvels and no healthier than a Mc D's.

We had an Spamish chcken dish lined up but couldn't be arsed to cook at the last minute.

wasabipeanut · 11/09/2014 22:01

Seriously Boots?

Both massively starchy - prob more fat in the mcd's admittedly but pesto is basically oil and cheese with a few additives chucked into the long life ones.

chocolatedonut · 11/09/2014 22:26

YANBU !!

rainbowinmyroom · 11/09/2014 22:30

I'd have told her to go fuck herself.

Jamrollypolly · 11/09/2014 22:43

Bad friend why is she not helping you out if it's that easy!

PiperIsOrange · 11/09/2014 22:48

elfycat you do know you can but the toys separately lol.

Op hope your period settles down and the DC enjoyed the McDonalds.

Bogeyface · 12/09/2014 00:27

AliceLidl Oh I'm glad that I cheered you up, thank you for saying such nice things :)

Freezer Medley is the kids favourite dinner! I had no space in the freezer because of half bags/boxes of fish fingers, oven chips, chicken dippers, various pastry/samosa type things I bought for Xmas. So I invented "Freezer Hodge Podge". I cooked everything and served it on the coffee table buffet style. When I say "Oh what shall we have for dinner?" they all ask for freezer hodge podge! I have taken to buying things just so I will have half a bag of everying in a month or so in order to serve it :o

Thank you all. I am less tearful now and thankfully period is easing off, still losing but I dont feel like Freddy Kruger is giving me an internal anymore. Snoozing on and off means I am now wide awake but thats ok. The kids really enjoyed their illicit junky dinner so all is well!

Ooh I might try freezer hodge podge - taking freezer medley to the next level Grin

Hope you're feeling better today.

ouryve · 12/09/2014 12:28

YWNBU.

I usually have some ready meals or frozen brown stuff ready for the first day or so of my period. It's not just the standing, it's the clumsiness. If a meal is too complicated, you can guarantee that I'll mess up the timings or miss out a component and I have a habit of dropping stuff or picking up a hot oven tray without oven gloves and other such stupid stuff.

So, fish and chips from the freezer or something stabbed with a fork it is, on those days! (We have no trustworthy takeaways nearby, so it's easier than all trekking out when I want to wallow).

Doingakatereddy · 12/09/2014 12:42

Isn't freezer medley most kids idea of the perfect dinner? An occasional mcD's is a lovely treat.

Kids need to learn that parents aren't perfect, automated, bland & impervious to pain or tiredness. Sometimes we need a break.

And your friend can fuck right off

perthmom · 12/09/2014 12:48

Oh YANBU and don't listen to that awful woman again.
I suffer from terrible periods and generally have two nights per period when it just has to be takeaway for dinner.

GobblersKnob · 12/09/2014 12:53

Yanb at all u, I am also suffering an early stupidly painful period (is it the groom's supermoons?) I feel like death warned up and ask I want to do is curl up in a ball and weep.

If you were my friend I would have taken them all off of your hands and bought them back fed and with something for you.

NOT because you shouldn't be feeding them McDonald's, but just because even that looks like a while load of fucking effort.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 12/09/2014 13:03

YABVU

I wouldn't call someone like that a friend.

Grin

McD's - pah. So what.

Hope it eases soon Brew & Cake

ElephantsNeverForgive · 12/09/2014 13:13

If DH has finished working by school pick up tonight, we will very likely end up in MD's, as my Friday evening kid ferrying drives straight past.

ipswichwitch · 12/09/2014 13:36

You should have thanked her profusely for offering to cook the kids a nice healthy tea since she's so concerned about their diets and she says it won't take long.

Judgy cow. I hope to god you see her in McDonalds someday soon, then you can just give her the look (cos you won't need to actually say anything!)

Hope you got a McFlurry and glad the DC enjoyed it. Maybe next time you see her you can tell her they survived it and didn't even spontaneously combust or anything!
