Having the worst period for years, incredible pain and if I didnt know for sure that I couldnt be PG, I would be wondering if it was another M/C :(

Saw a "friend" who said I looked rough and I explained and said I was taking the to McD's instead of cooking as I just cant stand for any period of time. She was horrified and said "but how long does it take to make a stir fry or cook some pasta?" I said too long at the moment and she implied I am being lazy.

I felt a bit tearful after that, which I know is silly, but AI really BU to chuck junk at them just this once? They have junk once a month (either McD's of KFC - vom) normally and a really good diet the rest of the time. Feel like shit now :(

I'm sure I'm too late and you've already taken them but just in case you're still beating yourself over it DON'T! Anything easy when you are feeling really rotten is perfectly reasonable. McD, or any other treat will go down fine. I'm suffering with pain and sickness to today and am just about to take dd out for a Burger King (it's near and often nearly empty). Only wish we lived where more things delivered and I woundnt even bother getting out the house!

Lacuna · 11/09/2014 18:14

God, don't feel bad about it! I love a filthy MacDs once in a while (actually, prefer a BK bacon double cheeseburger but you get the picture!) and the kids will be fine.

And tbh, I'm not sure that a bowl of pasta-with-cheese (my default CBA meal) is much healthier anyway!

a proper stir fry takes farkin ages anyway if you do it right, all that weeny chopping and marinating, silly judgy moo

commsgirl · 11/09/2014 18:18

YAdefinitelyNBU

I hope you feel better soon Wine

elfycat · 11/09/2014 18:24

I currently have no kitchen well I do but it's in boxes in the living room waiting for next week and I even I couldn't have faced going to McDonalds tonight

No not really.

It's not because of the horror of the food and not because it's a 20 minute dual-carriageway sprint away.

But because I ate a McDs every week for 6-7 weeks collecting the bloody dragon toys. I ended up by getting 2 happy meals via the drive through with the carrot stick option. The 4 of us would eat the chicken nuggets on our way to Pizza Hut and keep the carrots for an evening snack and the fruit shoot for the next trip out. The kids kept the dragons of course.

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 11/09/2014 18:24

I hope you got yourself a McFlurry OP. Thanks

HaroldLloyd · 11/09/2014 18:25

She is a McCunt.

Ignore.

odyssey2001 · 11/09/2014 18:26

I say well done for feeding them! Sod your friend, sod judgemental a-holes and sod McDonald haters. If you feel like it, do it tomorrow as well.

If you are still feeding them Happy Meals every night by this time next week, reassess and serve up nothing but beans and pulses for a week! That should balance things out. Grin

CabbagePatchCheryl · 11/09/2014 18:28

YANBU at all. Plus kids will be happy and hopefully leave you in peace to nurse your crampy horrible period.

Stupid snooty friend. Up hers.

I prescribe ibuprofen, hot water bottle, a Maccy D's of your own and a large glass of Wine.

merlehaggard · 11/09/2014 18:31

She doesn't sound like a great friend. Friends are supposed to support each other. There is nothing wrong with everything in moderation. I wouldn't mention it though after - I hate bad feeling. I would just keep it logged in my head in the "not such a good friend" category for future reference.

fluffyfanjo · 11/09/2014 18:34

If it makes you feel any better OP,my kids had super noodles for tea today and I have no excuse except that I simply couldn't be bothered to cook anything else .

I've had McDonald's tonight & dS KFC.

He unexpectedly wentvto football trials after school which didn't end til 4.45pm so we were late home.

Although I had all the ingredients in to do his favourite pasta I decided that as he'd worked so hard & even though he didn't get in had the right attitude he deserved KFC.

Plus I expected to be home by 4 PM instead of 5.45

whatever5 · 11/09/2014 18:45

YANBU. We go to McDonalds when I don't feel great. The children and I don't like the food much but it's quick and cheap. Your friend is an idiot.

MammaTJ · 11/09/2014 18:48

Sod that, we went to Maccy Ds tonight for no better reason than I am working a night shift tonight and couldn't be bothered.

We bumped into a friend there and told him that we were there because DP was too lazy to cook having been at work all day! We spent a good couple of minutes having a laugh about my 'lazy' DP before I told him the real reason.

I hope you do tell your 'friend' how much she hurt you.

picnicbasketcase · 11/09/2014 18:49

A McDonalds once per month is absolutely fine and anyone who sticks their nose in the air over such a trifling matter is a twat. Once a fortnight even. I still wouldn't judge you over it.

jeee · 11/09/2014 18:52

Could your friend have been concerned about you needing to take the children out? I think taking children to MDs is hard work, so when I'm under the weather I go down the frozen pizza/pasta with pesto route - not because I think these are in any way healthier than a fast food restaurant, but because it's a much easier option.

Hope you feel better soon, and that the children enjoy their MDs.

TheLovelyBoots · 11/09/2014 18:56

Your friend is a twat. I had McDonalds today for lunch and it was so unbelievably delicious. A good friend would have gone to McDonalds for you and brought wine.

mommy2ash · 11/09/2014 18:57

if I told no friends i was taking dd to McDonalds they would ask to come along. I wouldn't need an excuse either

you need new friends

WeirdCatLady · 11/09/2014 20:16

If it makes you feel any better I've eaten chinese food for both lunch and dinner, none of which I've cooked for myself! (I would've had Burger King for lunch but the queue was too long so I had chinese at a shopping mall food court, followed by chinese takeaway for dinner) om nom nom

Sparklypants · 11/09/2014 20:19

McCunt Grin

^this makes me happy (and I'm so stealing!)

trixymalixy · 11/09/2014 20:21

YANBU, my kids had alphabetti for dinner tonight as I've just been signed off work for a further week with vertigo.

Sparklypants · 11/09/2014 20:25

For the record, my DS has mcds once, sometimes twice a month with his dg while I go food shopping. He's still alive Smile

In future tell your 'friend' to bog off!

Gileswithachainsaw · 11/09/2014 20:30

What a bitch I'd have offered to go get you something or brought you something round. Of course Yanbu and I hate Macdonalds. Your kids won't drop dead from a big mac. Seriously, unless she was going to cook for you then she can keep her trap shut.

wolfe1 · 11/09/2014 20:34

Nice friend Hmm

If it makes you feel any less better we had McDonalds tonight too! My 16yo is in hospital and i have spent the day there with my 1yo in between two school runs and a dentist appointment. Have things in to cook but just couldn't be bothered.

ChillySundays · 11/09/2014 20:51

Stuff her! One day you will see her at McDs and can remind her of the conversation. McDs have their place and that is when you feel unwell and can't be arsed to cook. If it is once or twice a month that's pretty good
