To ask for handholding

I hate the misuse of AIBU, but I need some handholding. I have an appointment to make a statement to police about historical abuse tomorrow. I found out my abuser is still teaching, and worse is now a head and Child Protection lead. I feel fucking sick and haven't slept since I found out.

This has been said many times before to other posters in similar situations: the shame is all his, not yours.

Just wanted to chip in and say well done OP. Must have been incredibly difficult for you. My friend was abused by a long since estranged uncle and has never had the nerve to go to the police despite agonising over it for years. That's absolutely no criticism of her, she did eventually tell parents and family members who basically didn't believe her/swept it under the rug so I don't blame her for not wanting to expose herself again in that way. It's such a difficult thing to do, but you did the right thing, I hope now there's something the authorities can do about it.
