to think that an adult shouldn't be blowing on their food to cool it down?

Just wondering.

I think it's not really ok for an adult to blow on their food rather than waiting a bit for it to cool down. DP thinks it's perfectly reasonable. AIBU?

I'm not sure it's spelt fuffing but that's as close to how it's pronounced I could get.

squoosh · 09/09/2014 21:32

I'm not sure about 'fuffing', it sounds like something a Tory MP might get up to in a sex dungeon. Granted there'd probably be some blowing.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 09/09/2014 21:32

There is no other way to eat a Pot Noodle.

Unless it's thermonuclear when consumed it tastes rank. You need to lob a forkful in your gob and suck-blow over it whilst it sears your tongue, making breathing noises that you only otherwise hear in a labour ward.

Same with a Cup a Soup.

cherrybombxo · 09/09/2014 21:32

I had absolutely no idea that I was committing such a heinous act. I don't read at the table, I don't rest my elbows on the table, I don't clatter my cutlery on my teeth... who knew I was letting the side down by blowing on my food?

Some people need to get some real problems.

PlacidApricots · 09/09/2014 21:34

Oh god, its now gonna be a MN thing not to blow on your food?

FUCK OFF. I'M SO DONE.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 09/09/2014 21:34

Ah Squoosh where's the News of the World when you need it?

Would using a set of bellows to generate air be more acceptable than breath?

AnyFucker · 09/09/2014 21:39

if he's a Good Boy, he might get fuffed later

WallyBantersJunkBox · 09/09/2014 21:40

You dirty fuffer.

Alwayswiththechords · 09/09/2014 21:40

YABU, I do it as I don't want to burn my mouth and I also don't want the rest of my dinner to be cold. You usually only need to blow on the first few bites and then towards the end the food is cooler. Where as if you waited for the food to cool down, you'd end up with a cold dish.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 09/09/2014 21:40

I think you should name change to Anyfuffer now.

squoosh · 09/09/2014 21:41

It's no wonder Britain is broken with all this filthy fuffing going on.

2rebecca · 09/09/2014 22:10

I'll only do this if I'm on my own, and then mainly with soup especially cup a soup which I sometimes have for lunch. It's not good manners to blow on your food in company and definitely not in a restaurant. You just look immature and impatient and "germ" spreading

WallyBantersJunkBox · 09/09/2014 22:12

Jamie Oliver and his Italian old mate were fuffing on their ravioli last night.

MrsWinnibago · 09/09/2014 22:13

YANBU. Can't stand blowing, aaaahing or mmmming. It's so unnecessary!

Like performance sneezing. WAAAACHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Makes me MAD MAD MAD! Angry

chemenger · 09/09/2014 22:16

I read this while eating blackberry and apple crumple with cream. Initially it was very hot and I automatically blew on each spoonful, by the end it was just the right temperature so no blowing needed. If I had waited until it was cool enough to start the last third would have been cold. There is just me and the cat here, she doesn't seem too fussed about the blowing and now she is licking the plate (stands back and waits for mumsnet to implode due to slatternly behaviour and animal cruelty).

flipchart · 09/09/2014 22:18

I've never seen any adult blow on their food!
How does blowing cool it down! Aren't you just puffing warm air on hot food.

If food is very hot I just wait a short while and start with the food on the outer edges of the plate.

mausmaus · 09/09/2014 22:20

find at home
not ok in company. but tbf resaurant food tend not to be as hot anymore when it reaches the table.

Bulbasaur · 09/09/2014 22:26

I'm in such a habit of blowing on my food, I blow on my ice cream and salad sometimes. Grin

You can't wait for the whole meal to be cool, or at the end of the meal, it'll be luke warm instead of hot. Everyone knows that.

hormonalandneedingcheese · 09/09/2014 22:40

YABU, his food, up to him. Now if he was blowing all over yours he would be the unreasonable one.

Aeroflotgirl · 09/09/2014 22:41

Yabu I can't wait for it to cool though
