to find royal morning sickness irritating

Having had to work through all my bouts of morning sickness and endure three labours at st marys (definitely not lindo wing) I have limited sympathy for Katiekins' morning sickness. I think she shouldve tried to cope with the engagement she had lined up this afternoon looking less than her usual perfect self. That wouldve sent out a great sign of solidarity to us mere mortals.

Her doctors, who presumably know her and treated her, said she had HG.

But never mind, some folk have read a few newspaper reports and they know that actually she just had morning sickness. Confused

Celticlass2 · 09/09/2014 11:33

Yep, funny how she recovered so quickly last time[ hmm] As Jim Royal might have said. hG my arseSmile

mammuzzamia · 09/09/2014 11:36

I thought she was hospitalised for the duration of her pregnancy, for her HG. Confused

mammuzzamia · 09/09/2014 11:36

Oops, I may be wrong actually!

EarthWindFire · 09/09/2014 11:37

Do you actually know that? Did you examine her/treat her? If not you have no basis to say that.

Her Drs did say that she did have it surely they would know more than some one who has never seen her and is making assumptions based on what they may read/ see in the media.

But never mind, some folk have read a few newspaper reports and they know that actually she just had morning sickness.

Exactly

The length of time someone suffers from it varies though. My last hospital admission at nearly 22 weeks, the consultant was surprised to see me back as he thought it would have eased by now. Also, after my earlier admission I did have a bit of a boost for short while afterwards thanks to the fluids so was able to get out and about and looked okay, doesn't mean it lasted.

I don't understand how someone can think they know enough about the medical history of a stranger to state that they aren't suffering from a condition that their doctors have diagnosed them with.

Celticlass2 · 09/09/2014 11:44

Actually Earth I don't believe she has it! but even if she has, I wouldn't care either. hTH.

LiberalLibertines · 09/09/2014 12:02

Sounds like you care to me Celtic you're investing a hell of a lot of energy on the subject.

Not a lot going on upstairs? Didn't she do law?

You know what, I'm neither here nor there with the royals, but all this anger towards Kate, just makes me Confused

Like it or not, they do work hard,I wouldn't want her life for all the money in the world, would you?

MrsMarcJacobs · 09/09/2014 12:14

What an annoying point of view. Pregnancy is not a competition and to imply that it is is a big disservice to all women.

Celticlass2 · 09/09/2014 12:19

Good for you liberal I'm glad her hard work makes you happy. It must be exhausting cutting all those ribbons right enough! Right I'm off to the real world now to do some actual real work Smile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/09/2014 12:44

Come the revolution Celtic and I will be the ones chucking rotten tomatoesWink

I was admitted to hospital when I was almost 6 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with HG. I had been vomiting every five minutes for days. I couldn't eat, sleep or keep down any fluids. I was told that it should wear off a bit by 15 weeks. It didn't. I was sick no less than 20 times a day every single day. There was some days I could barely lift my head from the pillow. Death seemed like a perfectly reasonable solution on multiple occasions it was just that bad.

I was admitted to hospital a total of 6 times during my pregnancy. each stay was only 2-3 nights to bring me to decent hydration levels. Just because I was only in hospital for a short time doesn't mean the suffering stopped. Every day was hell on earth.

HG effects people in different ways. Some women may suffer for a few weeks, some may suffer for a few months. Some unlucky women like me might suffer throughout their entire pregnancy and even labour.

I wouldn't wish HG on my worse enemy it was EVIL

chockbic · 09/09/2014 12:59

It doesn't sound a barrel of laughs but at least she will be getting the very best of care.

Unlike lots of ordinary women who battle through raging sickness.

EarthWindFire · 09/09/2014 13:20

I'm sure the medical profession will be calling on you for future unqualified armchair diagnosis. Hmm

You know what, I'm neither here nor there with the royals, but all this anger towards Kate, just makes me

Me too.

I think Celtic has some ishoos... it's not healthy or normal to devote so much time and energy to criticising one woman!

LiberalLibertines · 09/09/2014 13:29

'Ordinary' women with HG get excellent care in this country.

They may be trying to force down toast rather than brioche, but the same medical treatment.

AmberLav · 09/09/2014 13:38

I am just glad that people now understand that "morning sickness" has different levels of intensity, and is nothing to do with who you are as a person - you get what nature has chosen to to give you!

Personally, each time, I got about 6 weeks of feeling like death, with 2-4 sicks a day, which I could manage to live with, with enough support, the right food and plenty of liquids. I felt marginally better doing things, so I was better coming to work, even if I could only do about 60% of my workload, and I had a very understanding boss, who I had to tell much earlier than I would have liked...

I do remember reading the HG support thread and thinking at least I'm not as badly off as some people, it made me feel a touch better!!!

Meglet · 09/09/2014 13:51

Women with HG don't battle through it. They end up in hospital a lot of the time.

My HG saw me snorting vomit out of my nostrils with about 5 seconds advance warning all day. A lot of that time the sick didn't reach a sick bowl or the loo and. It would be down my clothes or on the duvet. There wasn't the chance to get dressed, let alone battle through. Mum had to look after then 1yo DS because I ended up drugged by the medication and sleeping all the time.

On the other hand I was fine in the 2nd trimester and at the gym, cycling and running 'til 37 weeks.

Maisyblue · 09/09/2014 14:20

I'm sure Kate isn't bothered about what people put on here, well she probably doesn't read it anyway but why do so many get so riled up when they read criticism about her. Just by her very position she's bound to get critics but I don't understand why people get so mad about it. It's not like they know her personally.

Dapplegrey · 09/09/2014 16:46

Damediazepam - rotten tomatoes eh? Sounds like a bit of a budget revolution.

EarthWindFire · 09/09/2014 17:11

In reverse then why do people get so wound up and mad saying they don't like her when people say they do/have sympathy for her.
