to find royal morning sickness irritating

Having had to work through all my bouts of morning sickness and endure three labours at st marys (definitely not lindo wing) I have limited sympathy for Katiekins' morning sickness. I think she shouldve tried to cope with the engagement she had lined up this afternoon looking less than her usual perfect self. That wouldve sent out a great sign of solidarity to us mere mortals.

Enjoy pregnancy.... (Considers this as sister (seen every day and had update..one day it be my time..one day) hated every minute due to sickness (awful), spots, weight gain, tiredness but means to an end..her beautiful children...). Does anyone enjoy pregnancy? I wish the duchess a safe pregnancy.

Purplefrogshoes · 08/09/2014 18:33

yabu hyperemesis is awful

emotionsecho · 08/09/2014 18:44

Poor woman can't do right for doing wrong. If her engagement in Oxford this afternoon had been called off with a dodgy "not feeling well" excuse she would have been harangued to heaven and back, the press and news media would have gone into a frenzy of criticism and speculation, so it is announced she is pregnant and suffering HG and lo and behold she is harangued to heaven and back and the press and news media are having a field day.

Blame the news media for the wall to wall coverage and complain to them.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 08/09/2014 19:20

Please educate me on HG: I thought it usually lasts during most of the pregnancy. Kate had it last time, yet she was fine and making appearances from 2nd trimester onwards, or am I being dumb? By the way, I have a lot of sympathy for HG sufferers. I could barely cope with morning sickness, never mind HG

I'm sure someone else has already answered this but just in case, HG can last the entire pregnancy and a little bit beyond or it can go or vastly reduce at any stage during the pregnancy. According to my midwife lots of women find it slacked off at about 20 weeks but I'm sure she was just an evil lying git taunting me about make believe cases
It can be something you can just about work or function through but Ime most of the time it's not,it can be as serious as ICU because you are almost dead and emergency removal of baby no matter how prem and it can (rarely) result in maternal death and/or the baby.

It's a reason for quite a few terminations especially late term ones because it can be so bad you cannot just cannot go through it again or look after existing children or yourself

deakymom · 08/09/2014 19:25

i have a friend who had the same condition as kate in her pregnancy she was offered a termination on the grounds of well being poor and not royal probably

everyone should have equal treatment

but i do feel sorry for the girl if its anything like the food poisoning i had when i was pregnant i feel really sorry for her!

Waltonswatcher · 08/09/2014 19:30

Holy mother from hell...is she pregnant again ? We have to endure another royal birth . The media frenzy fed by the desperate masses.
Good job I refuse to engage with news .
I despise the Royal family , loathe the monarchist suporters- but totally wish her a safe pregnancy and feel for her if she does suffer as claimed. It's a hideous thing .

Heels99 · 08/09/2014 19:30

Why do you say that everyone else with this condition has an unsympathetic midwife and horrible boss? How bizarre! And because others have had that experience Kate should too? Why? Your friend was in hospital on a drip, would not prefer she went to work too?

Jealous and nasty.

Dapplegrey · 08/09/2014 19:31

Deakymom I also know someone who was offered a termination because of her severe HG. She wasn't royal but she, or rather her husband, is very rich. Not sure if people are offered terminations because they are poor and not royal tbh.

Maisyblue · 08/09/2014 19:48

Do we know for sure that she has got HG. As regards the royal family I'm afraid I'm quite cynical, they tell us anything to suit them. Just supposing she is suffering just ordinary morning sickness and cancelled engagements because of it. My point is they will tell us anything to keep their popularity going.

Maisyblue · 08/09/2014 19:51

I hope with this one she holds it like a baby rather than a bag of spuds as she did with George.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 08/09/2014 19:53

Dutchess or no Dutchess. She is pregnant and ill and she is also human. It's absolutely no mean feat pregnancy sickness.
Okay you endured you morning sickness,(Round of applause) but cut some slack to those that can't.

Dapplegrey · 08/09/2014 19:55

Maisyblue - even 'ordinary' morning sickness would make it very hard for her to carry out any engagements with the world's press watching every move.
As regards your comment about how she holds a baby, that's unnecessarily spiteful imo.

Aherdofmims · 08/09/2014 19:57

yabu to think hg is morning sickness.

yanbu to finding it boring to hear about the pregnancy details of someone you don't know.

clam · 08/09/2014 20:05

Jesus, these royal threads bring out some seriously unpleasant people.

LadyLuck10 · 08/09/2014 20:11

Your post is royally bitchy op.

PrettyPictures92 · 08/09/2014 20:20

You are being vvvUR and nasty. Go find something else to get your knickers in a twist about and leave the poor woman alone.

EarthWindFire · 08/09/2014 20:42

I hope with this one she holds it like a baby rather than a bag of spuds as she did with George.

How spiteful Hmm

I has hyperemesis and a mere mortal and my care was brilliant.

mummytowillow · 08/09/2014 20:52

How bitchy!

I didn't have HG just morning sickness and I felt so grim I couldn't lift my head off the pillow some days.

Leave the poor woman alone.

NoBloodyMore · 08/09/2014 20:58

Oh I had HG and honestly wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, my 3 pregnancies were the worst time of my life to the stage I considered termination in my middle pregnancy. Was signed off work intermittently throughout all 3 pregnancies.

I think it's great that they've announced Kate has it as it brings some much needed awareness of the condition because there is nothing worse than having been sick 40 times a day to get an unsympathic GP who thinks you just have "morning sickness"

Figrus · 08/09/2014 20:59

What i cant understand is that if hyperemesis is as dehabilitating as sufferers claim then why do some of them get pregnant again?

Lweji · 08/09/2014 21:01

Not all pregnancies are the same.

3littlefrogs · 08/09/2014 21:14

Some people are offered termination because there is a risk of death if the pregnancy continues.

Nothing to do with being rich, royal or otherwise.
