about early delivery

I have a delivery coming today from a large bed/mattress company.
The confirmation email I received says they will ring between 8:30-10:30 on the day of delivery to give you a 2 hour time slot.
They ring this morning saying its to come between 1:30-3:30.

12:30 my mobile rings, its the delivery they are outside and where am I??

me: I am sorry nobody is there to accept the delivery you are an hour early
him: yes I am early how quickly can you get here
me: I have planned my day around the time slot, sorry but nobody will be there until then
him: so what time will you be here?
me: 1:30 as per the time slot
him: can't you come sooner?
me: no I have explained you are early....

then he hung up on me.

wibu to complain about this? he had such a rude tone as if I was inconveniencing him! great if I was in but unfortunately I was not!

Tis very cheeky expecting you to drop what you're doing and scurry on home because he got there early. I don't think it's unreasonable to complain, although personally would be unlikely to get around to it (unless it turns out he carried on with the round and didn't make the delivery that day...).

I’d complain, why didn’t he call before he got there to let you know he would be early? Expecting you to drop everything and rush home is taking the piss.

nearly an hour past the slot now and it has not arrived.
I am so annoyed! really need this mattress for our lodger coming and I work every day this week

I'd definitely complain!

SauvignonBlanche · 08/09/2014 16:29

Have you rung and complained yet?

crazykat · 08/09/2014 16:40

I've had this before. Its great if I'm in anyway but I usually try to arrange delivery of big things for when I'll be in.

I once paid £5 to choose a one hour time slot between the nursery and school run times as I needed the item that day. I got a call when I was half way to nursery saying they were at my door. I explained I was getting my dd to be told I had to come back now or re arrange delivery for another day! It was sorted out but I've never used that company again.

Ring now! If you leave it much later then they may say that you will have to wait for another delivery day. And make a note of his mobile number (perhaps even take a photo of the call log) to prove he did ring at that time, because he will probably tell his boss that you werent there when he turned up at 1:30.

MissMooMoo · 08/09/2014 18:54

I rang just after posting this and explained the earlier call and mentioned delivery was an hour early and nobody was in.
they arrived just after 5,
the company claims someone will ring me in the AM to discuss my complaint....we will see.

Ha ha, they'll probably ring tonight then.
