to think at 5 foot you can't date a guy 6 foot 4

I've always been a bit self conscious about my height but thankfully as I've grown older I've learned to feel more comfortable in my own skin.

the strange thing about being short is the sheer amount of tall guys that ask you out.

the tallest guy I've dated was 6 foot 2 and it was a great relationship but I had to always wear huge heels, run alongside him while he walked and he couldn't hear me talk without bending down.

there is a guy I know who is really nice but he is 6 foot 4. he doesn't see the problem but I feel self conscious just thinking about it. aibu?

'Though I told him that I wasn't going to be the "big spoon" again because I felt like a human backpack'. Crying. Wahahaha!

PenisesAreNotPink · 05/09/2014 18:07

I have that, I like really tall men.

I don't wear heels either, not one person has ever mentioned the height difference

theuncivilservant79 · 05/09/2014 18:11

I'm 5'4 and dating a guy 6'4. I love it Grin

queenofthemountains · 05/09/2014 18:17

I'm 5'2 and my husband I'd 6'4. Don't buy a round mirror, we once put one up and found neither of us could see in it. Tall men are good for high shelves. I also once took the step stool round the house just to see what it looked like from his height, it is very different.

mommy2ash · 05/09/2014 18:34

I can't breathe from laughing over human backpack lol.

Im 5'2, dh is 6'3. Ive never even thought about it tbh and I dont wear heels aside from proper nights out.

Notso · 05/09/2014 18:57

I'm 5"3 DH is 6"4. I love him being tall. A lot of our wedding pictures were on stairs!
We go out with another couple where the wife is 5 foot 11 and the husband is 5 foot 5.
We often get comments that we are with the wrong partner.

eggsandwich · 05/09/2014 19:03

I'm 5 ft and dated a man of 6 ft 2 both my parents were short, my mum was 4.11 and my dad 5.2, my mum use to say she wanted us to marry tall men to bring a bit of height into the family.
My DH is 6.1 my 14 year old son is 5.7 and my 11 year old daughter is 5.1 so it worked. For me the taller the better.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/09/2014 19:10

Would I be flamed and say if it were the other way around and I was tall I couldn't go out with a small man, or am I being sexist and old fashioned.

TeeBee · 05/09/2014 19:15

They're all the same height lying down Grin

Yabu DH is 6'4" and I'm 5'2" we've been together 13.5 years and it's not a problem, I just have to remind him to walk a bit slower sometimes

I'm exactly 5ft 0 and I once dated (although not seriously) a 6ft 6 guy. I laughed about how ridiculous we probably looked together but it never entered my head not to date him because of his height.

CatThiefKeith · 06/09/2014 14:33

Dsis is 5ft. Bil is 6ft 7.

If you like him, go for it!

Isseyesque · 06/09/2014 14:38

Why ever not? I have friends (married) who are the same difference in height as you describe. I think you are being a bit ridiculous

BuggersMuddle · 06/09/2014 14:51

Why not? 13" height difference here, been together 11 years.

The only time it's come up recently was when DP was trying to hang a mirror 'fairly'. I was forced to remind him that whilst he could bend down, I couldn't bend up Hmm

gotthemoononastick · 06/09/2014 15:10

Another one who can pass under her DH's armpit!Married for donkey's years and managed 4 children!

FuckOffWeasel · 06/09/2014 15:32

That guy, for example, was a twat.

You might have to go in for some specialist maneuvers if things work out well, but I'd certainly not let height be the deciding factor in meeting someone nice.

Iffy2014 · 06/09/2014 15:36

My fiance is 6'7", and I'm 5'3". Some friends have commented that we look amusing together, and I had to stand on a box for a formal photograph together once (which is a lovely photo, as you can see we're both laughing about this). Other than that, no problems at all. And we run together every other night and manage to keep pace.

Think you just went out with a bit of a dickhead with poor hearing, OP.
