to think at 5 foot you can't date a guy 6 foot 4

I've always been a bit self conscious about my height but thankfully as I've grown older I've learned to feel more comfortable in my own skin.

the strange thing about being short is the sheer amount of tall guys that ask you out.

the tallest guy I've dated was 6 foot 2 and it was a great relationship but I had to always wear huge heels, run alongside him while he walked and he couldn't hear me talk without bending down.

there is a guy I know who is really nice but he is 6 foot 4. he doesn't see the problem but I feel self conscious just thinking about it. aibu?

im 5ft 3 and a bit, my dh of 24 years is 6ft 5.

its not even an issue! why would it be? ok so the missionary position is out but is that a bad thing? Grin

wafflyversatile · 05/09/2014 00:55

I'm 5ft and have gone out with men that tall. Tallest to chat me up was 6'8''! That was a bit too tall for me.

I find the height difference is also noticeable in bed.

wafflyversatile · 05/09/2014 00:56

Confused why is the missionary position out?

mommy2ash · 05/09/2014 00:58

you do end up smothered somewhere mid chest lol

Glad you corrected that Jace I was thinking bloody hell your son is tall Grin .

I've had an ex partner who was a foot taller than me - it was fine.

My 5ft2" sister was seeing a guy who was 6 ft 9" for a while - it did make her look tiny but I don't believe it caused them any issues.

wafflyversatile · 05/09/2014 01:02

Well, yes, a bit. Part of the fun of shenanigans.

Mandatorymongoose · 05/09/2014 01:05

To add a random story of my stupidity though:

We had a small footstool in our kitchen I used for getting things from the top cupboards. One day it had been left in front of the sink so rather than move it to do the washing up I stood on it lazy.

As I stood there, I thought to myself poor DP it must be awful being tall. I have to lean right forward from up here or I wouldn't be able to reach the taps.

It took me an unreasonably long time to work out tall people generally have arms in proportion to their bodies and so they wouldn't have to stretch quite as far as I did Blush .

ElephantsNeverForgive · 05/09/2014 01:10

My university flat mate did, I have a lovely picture of her, then my now DH (who's 6ft) and then her BF, who was a head taller again.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 05/09/2014 01:13

Like this? I realise it's not real life of course :)

morethanpotatoprints · 05/09/2014 01:14

I did.

Well I'm even smaller at 4ft 10.
I wish you'd told me I couldn't date him 26 years ago. Grin
If you get married though make sure you are both on all the photo's and buy a box. Thanks

morethanpotatoprints · 05/09/2014 01:16

Oh and my favourite line on here.
You don't have to get on your knees to give him a blow job.

MummyBeerest · 05/09/2014 01:16

Ain't no height restrictions for this ride.

Dh is 6'2" and I'm 5'3". It's never been weird because we're just adorable.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 05/09/2014 01:19

Turns out Helen Baxendale is 5'7 so actually on the tall side. Greg Davies is a massive 6'8!

tmae · 05/09/2014 01:35

I'm 5 ft tall and my husband is 6 ft 5 in. If you like him go for it!

I have though recently had a pretty big baby and I reckon that was my husband's genetics!

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 05/09/2014 02:03

Yabu, I'm 5ft2, DH is 6ft. I don't wear high heels or run along beside him. Usually he has a job keeping up with me as I walk fast.

F0ssil · 05/09/2014 02:08

The lovely man I'm with now is smaller than my xh and the last man I dated, he's about 5;8" and I feel we are perfect together. When we are together I feel like I can see his face and kiss him and hug and chat at the same time. I only realise now how right it feels

TheWholeOfTheSpoon · 05/09/2014 02:08

Tmae my Grandmother was 5 ft and my Grandfather was 6 foot 5! They were married 65 years so it obviously worked for them! They only ever had my Dad though as he was a big baby and, in those days, that could be deadly.

F0ssil · 05/09/2014 02:09

........but that's because I love him more than because of his height. The last two were hopeless.

nokidshere · 05/09/2014 02:57

I'm 5ft 2 and my DH of 33 years is 6ft 6 - its never caused any problems, in or out of bed Wink

My 15 year old is already 6ft and I have to stand on the stairs to give him a proper hug these days or he complains of backache having to bend down for one haha

Go for it!

nokidshere · 05/09/2014 02:58

Oh, and I very, very rarely wear heels!

TheWholeOfTheSpoon · 05/09/2014 02:59

I want to read a thread where a 6'2" woman is bemoaning she's fallen in love with a 5'2" bloke. That would be awesome!

AdoraBell · 05/09/2014 03:49

I know a woman of about 5 foot, her husband is about 6'7". He hears her speak from that lofty height and she doesn't wear high heels. She also doesn't run along trying to keep up or get left behind.

Methinks your old BF was the problem, rather than his height.

If you like this man then go for it.

CallMeExhausted · 05/09/2014 04:48

I dated (and was engaged to) a fantastic guy who was 7'1". I am 5'8.

We would have married without a doubt, but sadly he passed away.

Crazeeladee · 05/09/2014 04:57

I'm 5ft1", DH is 6ft5", you don't notice it after a while.

CillaBlacksOrangeBouffant · 05/09/2014 06:44

I'm 5' I've dated a man who was 6'9, most recent ex was 6'4 and I'm going on a date this weekend with another 6'4 man.

The shortest man I've dated was 5'10 I think.

My mum says we looked like a bottle and a glass :o

If you like someone then what does it matter how tall etc they are?
