For my birthday I made a cake to bring into work, a fresh lemon drizzle cake (contains 4 lemons) and no addatives or nastys.

Anyway one guy at work said his body is a temple and he doesn't eat junk food.

I wanted to slap him, homemade stuff isn't the same as junk food!

Its a lovely thing to do, but I would consider cake junk food too to be honest. Like crisps or chocolate or ice cream. I eat it though Grin

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 03/09/2014 20:07

My body is a temple, and like all good temples it's in ruins Grin

I'll eat your cake - love lemon cake...

Abra1d · 03/09/2014 20:08

Well, la-di-dah to him.

CaptChaos · 03/09/2014 20:09

He sounds like a bit of a twunt.

More cake for everyone in your office who isn't a twunt then Grin

Sugar, butter, white flour - all a bit junky. I wouldn't say no though.

TsukuruTazaki · 03/09/2014 20:11

He sounds so pompous and annoying. There's nothing stopping him saying no thanks, no need to call it junk.

Only1scoop · 03/09/2014 20:13

I can see what he is saying ....cake sugar etc....people like that bore me though....

Sounds delish send his portion over here if you please Op Smile

MollyBdenum · 03/09/2014 20:15

I love lemon drizzle cake, but would count it as junk food. Unless you made it with wholemeal flour, enriched it with seeds and the only sweetness came from a small quantity of fruit. If that were the case, I wouldn't eat it because it would be foul.

mommy2ash · 03/09/2014 20:15

if he hi someone who takes eating healthily very seriously then he is right to him it's junk. to me it would be a treat but cake No matter where it's made is junk food

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 03/09/2014 20:15

Yum, YANBU, "no thank you" would have sufficed.

Only1scoop · 03/09/2014 20:16

To be honest Op using so many lemons in your creation....its practically one of his 5 a day Grin

RevoltingPeasant · 03/09/2014 20:18

Yeah but you don't say that to the person who made it Shock

You say, "oh it looks lovely, but I'm all right without".

MollyBdenum · 03/09/2014 20:18

It was pretty rude, even if accurate. He could easily have said "Thanks. It looks lovely but I avoid refined carbs/ sugar really doesn't agree with me".

RevoltingPeasant · 03/09/2014 20:19

I mean, she asked the man if he wanted a piece of cake, not for his personal fucking philosophy of life.

museumum · 03/09/2014 20:19

It's not "junk food" in my world. It is unhealthy, with way too much refined carbohydrate but not "junk".
To me "junk food" is food made in a factory with preservatives and very little resemblance to any raw ingredients.

Mrsgrumble · 03/09/2014 20:19

Well I suppose cake is a treat food, not a healthy option.

However, I would think it was lovely if someone did that at work- very kind gesture.

I would eat the cake and thank you sincerely.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/09/2014 20:20

Well it is accurate.

Socially inept though.

Don't feel bad about it though, I bet it was lovely and you can be sure if I had been there I'd have eaten his share for him. Love lemon drizzle cake!

MissMogwi · 03/09/2014 20:21

Sweet Jesus, in my office you'd be worshipped for bringing cake of any kind in.

Ungrateful sod. Hope you ate his piece. Grin

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 03/09/2014 20:21

Home made cake isn't junk food. It's not healthy food, but junk food to me is processed, prepackaged stuff like crisps and chocolate or fast food like McDonald's.

Flingmoo · 03/09/2014 20:24

YANBU. It's incredibly rude that he called it junk. To me junk is like you say - fast, unhealthy food with additives etc. He could have said "no thanks I'm on a diet" or "I better not, I'm trying to eat healthily"...

Anyway, an occasional piece of cake has its place even in a healthy diet - it's just the smallest segment of the food pyramid they teach you at school...!

ImperialBlether · 03/09/2014 20:24

I've never heard such a lot of po faced answers!

I'll give him a couple of days before he eats something that really is junk.

EmmanuelWoganberry · 03/09/2014 20:25

Refusing free homemade cake is WEIRD. It’s not junk, shop cake is junk.

icclemunchy · 03/09/2014 20:30

Can I have his piece please. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and would actually kill for a lemon drizzle right now.

I think I'm going to have to get DP to bring the ingredients home when he finishes work at 2am so I can make one!!

Flingmoo · 03/09/2014 20:31

Also, I worked with someone like this once..

He always wheeled his office chair over to my desk to scrutinise and criticise my lunch. Made comments about how I'll put on weight if I eat crisps, sandwiches, biscuits etc. Even things like jacket potato he'd moan about as he lived on quinoa salads... I was 8st at the time, size 10... I suppose he thought that made it okay to comment, I can't imagine he'd say the same to a larger woman. It still hurt my feelings though, I get a noticeable pot belly after large meals and once he even poked and grabbed my belly and said something like "look at that belly!".

Sorry, a bit off topic but this really reminded me of him!
