For my birthday I made a cake to bring into work, a fresh lemon drizzle cake (contains 4 lemons) and no addatives or nastys.

Anyway one guy at work said his body is a temple and he doesn't eat junk food.

I wanted to slap him, homemade stuff isn't the same as junk food!

Whether it is junk food or not, it is blatantly obvious that its rude and insulting to say that to the person who baked it and offered it to you! "No thanks, I'm trying to be healthy" is fine - "I am an arrogant egotist with no social skills and I think your home baking is junk" obviously isn't Hmm

WorraLiberty · 03/09/2014 20:34

All cake is junk but he was rude in his reply

I suspect he was joking though? I mean no-one's going to come out with that temple thing seriously surely?

picnicbasketcase · 03/09/2014 20:34

I am childish so I would be hoping he offered me something edible one day just so I could say 'No, my body is a museum and I don't eat shite.'

lovingmatleave · 03/09/2014 20:36

I don't partake of home made cakes in the office ( am trying got ditch all sugar and white carbs and so far its doing wonders for my skin and I feel much lighter and more alert). I wouldn't be rude though, although I can tell people are still a bit offended when I politely refuse.

BravePotato · 03/09/2014 20:37

That is not my definition of junk food.

Anything home made, however much sugar or butter, is not "junk".

Anything congaing articial flavours and colourings and hydrogenated vegetable and artificial sweetener and 50 other E numbers... THAT is junk, in my book!

aprilanne · 03/09/2014 20:37

well cake is not fruit .but then tea and strawberry,s has not got the same ring as tea and cake lovely

WorraLiberty · 03/09/2014 20:39

My definition of junk food, is any food with little or no nutritional value.

Normally the nicest food Grin

Stealthpolarbear · 03/09/2014 20:42

Picnic :o

SevenZarkSeven · 03/09/2014 20:42

Junk food for me means mass produced with additives e-numbers etc.

Home made cake is no way junk food in my book.

And of course he was incredibly rude to say that even if he thought it Shock

SevenZarkSeven · 03/09/2014 20:43

Oooh I've got a good one.

If he does it again, you could riposte thus:

"Fuck off".

Grin
AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 03/09/2014 20:44

Smile sweetly and say "good then. More for us!" and walk away.

Nobody with any brains passes up lemon drizzle cake! I'd never call it junk food. Tis lovely!! Grin

gincamparidryvermouth · 03/09/2014 20:46

Blimey, it sounds like something a fictional character would say!

Bartlebee · 03/09/2014 20:47

He was rude, but cake is junk.

I'm with seven, it's the only response. If he's not a complete knob, he's socially inept. Honestly, who says "my body's a temple" without adding "i.e. a complete ruin"?

RaisingSteam · 03/09/2014 20:51

I think home baking is treats rather than junk. Just as bad for you, but so are most treats!

You're lucky he didn't punch it.

Notsoyummymummy1 · 03/09/2014 20:56

Tell him his temple needs redecorating

WireCat · 03/09/2014 20:56

Homemade cake isn't junk food.

Chottie · 03/09/2014 20:57

I do think he was rude and rather thoughtless.

I would wished you happy birthday, and taken a small slice.

grocklebox · 03/09/2014 20:57

cake isn't junk food. Weirdos.

^junk food
noun
pre-prepared or packaged food that has low nutritional value.
"I was eating too much junk food"^

not accurate. As well as bloody rude.

BingoBonkers · 03/09/2014 21:00

It sounds like he is looking down his nose at you for making and consuming (in his eyes) junk. Bit holier than thou and with no actual justification.

Screw him is what I say I would love a massive slice!

Love the comment about all the best temples being in ruins! Grin

HamishBamish · 03/09/2014 21:03

I wouldn't count it as junk food, but it's not exactly healthy either. He was very rude though and I would just have said that it looked lovely, but I was having to watch what I eat atm, or something like that.

In reality, I wouldn't have been able to resist!

hamptoncourt · 03/09/2014 21:04

YANBU and if it had lemons in it it might even have counted towards his 5 a day Smile

I hope you had a lovely birthday.
