AIBU to think orange juice with 'bits' is just lazy juicing?

Bought some orange juice today

Choice was with bits or without bits?

Surely the bits are just the pith and therefore lazy juicing?

No, the pith is the white bitter and inedible (in that nobody would want to eat it) part just underneath the skin. I prefer juice with 'bits'. When you eat a citrus fruit e.g. an orange, it is not just liquid is it?

Some peopel like "bits". Orange juice with "bits" is healthier.

I don't understand why orange juice with "bits" is more expensive. I imagine that the one without bits is made from concentrate where as the one with "bits" is proper orange juice.

The way I see it is if you get smooth you pay the same price but they've taken the (best) bits.

My dd only drinks orange juice with bits, I swear she reads the label before drinking it.

TheBloodManCometh surely a lot depends where your orange juice comes from. Premium orange juice that is juiced for the customer has not been faffed about with.

There is a difference between fruit juice that has been freshly pressed for the customer in a top restaurant and Aldi's cheapest orange juice.

I'm sure I read something a few years ago about rotting mountains of orange goop that they pulverized and added into regular juice (even the smooth kind). Does that ring a bell with anyone? I am very tired. Didn't realize it was 3am!!

The bits are the flesh if the orange, the nice stuff that most people eat. Not the pith and not the skin.

I love oranges and orange juice, but I don't like pulp in my orange juice. Some people love it, though.

I like it both ways. We often squeeze our own (I live in Florida) and keep the pulp. It tastes like a liquid orange.

I don't like pulp, but I would definitely not buy it if it said "Orange Juice with Bits," on the carton. It really doesn't sound appetizing.

I hate juice with bits in...I don't want to sieve my drink through my teeth. I'm glad there's like minded souls on here. :-)

That said, I hate pulp anyway. It clogs up the juice flow at my lips. Very annoying.

Can anyone explain why oranges are orange but orange juice (Tropicana etc) is yellow?

It's called pulp. I like fresh juice with pulp but in cartons I prefer smooth. Don't know why.

Hate the pulp filled juices. If I'm not expecting it I presume its off!
