More of a WWYD... but a dog one

In the area near where I live the council have been having a 'clean up' operation wrt dog fouling, (it was a total mess before) and they have put notices up asking people to pick up after their dogs, and asking people to report persistent offenders.

I see 3 people who don't pick up after their dogs - one is a big thuggish looking bloke with a big thuggish looking dog (they're both probably gentle as lambs); one is a man who parks his car and never gets out, and while sitting he opens the car door lets the dog out to run around, do it's stuff, and then jump back into the car; and the third is a man on a motability scooter who has his two dogs running along beside him.

I'm not a dog owner (not that it makes any difference, except that I'm not walking around with my pockets stuffed with clean poo bags). I'd normally just ignore it but it is such a pity that after the areas has been cleaned up, there is still quite a loss of mess being made.

I'd do what was asked and report it. can't see why you wouldn't tbh.

People that don't pick up after their animals shouldn't be owning them.

It's part and parcel of being a dog owner IME.

If you can see them from your house, I'd take pictures and send them in. And for the car one, I'd send in the reg. too, to make it easier to identify them.

Just take photos of them or get car numbers and report them. Their behaviour is vile. Cleaning up after your dog is something you have to get used to and I always have poo bags in my pocket even when I'm not expecting to have to use them. There are in fact pooo bags in every pocket this family has!

Report them!! it infuriates me that people do this, I'm a dog owner and always pick up, even when it's nearly impossible due to consistency (haha sorry TMI!) It's part and parcel of being an dog owner, drives me mad grrrrr!!!

Definitely report them. All of my pockets are filled with poo bags and I have to shuffle around picking up the mess that my dog has annoyingly kicked away with his back feet and covered with grass clippings so why shouldn't everyone else? It's disgusting to leave it.

I would report, don't want to clean up shit? don't get a dog! - might be a bit too risky to get photos though unless you want some aggro. Car reg would be easy.

Bloody hate having to do the dog poo slalom on the way to school, sometimes it's a choice between crap on shoes or walk in traffic it's that bad

Also, out of interest, what's with the dog owners who pick up the poo and bag it (the hard part, surely?) then drop the fecking bag on the ground. wtaf?

ILovePud I suppose the dilemma is that the man who never gets out of his car may not be able to get out of his car, and the man on the motability scooter probably can't manage to pick up after his dog (and at least his two dogs look very healthy and well exercised)

When my dgm was elderly her dog was what kept her going and motivated and happy. Luckily she had a neighbour who walked her dog but I know that she wouldn't have been able to bend down to pick up dog poo, and she would have been heartbroken if she had to loose her dog.

It seems kind of mean to report them.

As for the big bloke - no qualms about that, just not goin to be caught taking a photo of him (although as I said he's probably gentle as a lamb)...

You don't need to make excuses for them before you know their circumstances...

You can buy long handled poop scoops from Pets at home for a fiver. The man on a mobility scooter could use one of those.

They are probably not picking up after their dogs because there is no pressure on them to do so. As you said, the area was a mess and they had no motivation to do their part. If you report them, they might actually take responsibility for their dogs, and stop the area descending back into a giant litter tray
