To want "No Thanks" referendum posters to be available

My street is overcome with Yes posters and so I thought I might put up some "No Thanks" or "Better Together" window posters. But there are none available on the Better Together websites, and so I searched further. Just nothing easy to printout out that is even A4 big. Meanwhile I find a whole load of Yes posters and these are easy to come by, on and off the internet.

Apart from the large Union Jack down the road, the No voters are remaining signage free.

Am I unreasonable to want Better Together campaign to have thought of this.

Aw thanks AFewFallenLeaves Grin A lot of people were nice and polite, just saying "no, thank you" if they didn't want anything.

I chatted with a No voter, she was looking for more info and it was genuinely nice to talk with her. :) It was also good to see so many people asking if they could register to vote.

I can easily make something. No is not a complex statement.

I'm also looking forward to the referendum being over, but I guess that is assuming the polls are right and we get a NO vote, otherwise this level of uncertainty is going to go on and on.

Or you could get a Saltire and write No Thanks on it - it isn't copywrited to the Yes campaign (yet)

euphemia something wrong with being a Rangers fan? I can think of worse people to be....

prettybird · 31/08/2014 17:22

Yes voting friend says he has been called a "nat cut" and "jock bastard" and last night was warned if he didn't stop posting so much pro Yes stuff on facebook he'd get a smack in the face. I'm really Shock as I haven't come across anything like that Sad He's a very mild mannered lawyer and hasn't posted anything* inflammatory or even that much - even if you might happen to disagree with it. Whatever happened to free speech? Hmm

GreenPetal94 · 31/08/2014 17:22

Well, it appears to be wildthong!

Re "No Thanks" posters: that might explain why in my not very long street, which by the stereotypes that some on MN have, should be solidly No (well-off middle class, big stone villas, populated mostly by doctors, university professors and business people), there are 6 houses with Yes posters and none with No posters. The local shops are also full of Yes posters.

OldLadyKnowsSomething · 31/08/2014 18:35

I have Tweeted @UK_Together to ask if they can help you, Rainbow.

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 18:35

Better together have certainly had people sending stuff out. The "Naw" stuff isn't official - I still have some although I volunteer with the official campaign as well.

If anyone wants stuff let me know and I'll see what I can sort you out with.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/08/2014 18:40

Wow! I just had a look and that is just weird - maybe its something to do with them changing their branding half way through? Personally, I'd go for home-made - but I'd guess your best bet for an "official" one would be your local No shop/street stall.

EBay may also be worth a look in case someone is getting them professionally printed and "selling" for postage only.

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 18:46

Please nobody feel you have to go to ebay and buy them - anyone wants stuff feel free to PM me. And I'll go to the local office tomorrow and point out to them that people need to accesd stuff. I'm in a city so we give most stuff out on stalls and when canvassing, but clearly that isn't reaching everyone.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/08/2014 18:50

OOAOML Maybe get them to put a downloadable version up on the website - they have downloadable leaflets but no posters.

Dieu · 31/08/2014 18:53

Lots of 'no' posters/stickers/banners etc here in Edinburgh, usually in the more affluent areas.

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 18:53

Don't know why they didn't just get a mum to organise it all in the first place Wink

dementedma · 31/08/2014 18:54

No voters round here are scared of the response if they declare. Friend had her no sticker ripped off her car and her car scratched with something. Made a right mess of it! I'm voting no but not telling anyone in RL. Some of the abuse is horrible. Not just a nation divided, but families and friends divided too. A guy I know posted on fb a pic of him and Alex Salmond. Should have seen the comments, including a "I'm proud of you," from his wife and an "I'm ashamed of you" from his mother! Bet Sunday dinner in their house is fun. Its all becoming really horrible

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/08/2014 19:08

Theres nutters on both sides unfortunatelySad The problem is it is so important that emotions are going to be raised on both sides.

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 19:13

But there are still reasonable people on both sides Wink

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/08/2014 19:20

But there are still reasonable people on both sides

Fortunately the vast majority. Given what's at stake we're doing pretty well really....

I just snorted at the rangers supporter comment - where I live there are union jacks everywhere just now. It's nothing to do with the referendum though Confused

affafantoosh · 31/08/2014 22:32

My friends who are no voters all say they're scared of repercussions, but none of them can give examples of any incidents which might give rise to concern.

As a yes campaigner I've been defriended on Facebook (it's not like I'm promoting the fucking BNP!), sworn at and had literature torn up in my face Confused and I'm dead polite!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/08/2014 22:42

I have a no thanks sticker in my window OP, so they are definitely available. Maybe worth contacting the campaign to see if they have any posters available? If they have some materials they'll send something out to you.

Jbck · 31/08/2014 22:42

I've got a Scottish Labour one OP. DH brought it home, I'll ask where he got it.

Jbck · 31/08/2014 22:47

Sorry just rtft, presume you are sorted now.
