Allan Morris was a teacher and in his own words 'Chief Police Officer' for over 20 years from 1973-1995 at St Ambrose College Altrincham . A school I am aware off , my brother has friends who were at the school when Morris was committing these 'appalling acts'. The stories that are coming out on a daily basis about 'child' abuse are despicable . The thing that makes this story remarkable though is the fact that the Boys abused were not 'Children in care' poor or without caring families. The boys in the whole would have come from affluent , caring and academically able backgrounds, not what is normally seen to be the background for institutional abuse.

Wow - your OP is odd.

Why do you use inverted commas for 'appalling acts' 'child' abuse etc?

And are you seriously telling me that you thought that only poor, neglected, not terribly bright boys were subject to abuse in schools?

You sound ridiculous and a bit dim.

There are sentencing guidelines in place, and I guess they were adhered to.

Norway. I am aware of sentencing guidelines, they are totally inappropriate for the offences committed . No I am not telling you only poor neglected kids with no recourse to be heard .

I don't think the OP is odd Norway I assumed OP was quoting when she used inverted commas...I do think though that her assumption that middle class boys aren't at risk is naive. In public schools, (expensive ones too) abuse has been common for years.

Also Norway not on to call OP "Ridiculous and a bit dim" at all! Not nice at all and uncalled for.

Mrs Winnibago. I have heard about the stories coming out from boarding schools. The difference here is that this was not a boarding school and I find it shocking that this abuse was allowed to go on for twenty years. I cannot believe that having met some 'boys' who were they when morris taught ( who are now Strong Characters) did not do anything about him until recently . ( by the way I am not talking about those abused) I mean the friends and families of those abused , should have acted when hearing stories about Morris. This is just another scandal to 'hit the fan' no doubt there will be others from the 70s/80s and even the 90s. The sentencing guidelines have got to be changed , they also have got to be 'retrospective' no more sentencing based on 1970s thinking 'that kids need to be punished'.

People are ashamed sadly. I was involved with a theatre group where the leader abused young men for years before any of them spoke up....by that time they were in their 40s.
