"Can we go to Pizza Express? Pizza Hut is a bit common and low quality"

Says Ds friend to me just now. Apparently, his family 'don't do' Pizza Hut.

Wibu not to take the ungrateful git anywhere for lunch now?

First time he's been to our house. So far, I've been told how small it is, asked how much dh earns, asked if this is a council house and asked why we didn't wait to have baby dd until we had a bigger house.

Ds is mortified.

Hope your son can steer well clear of the rude boy when they start in the new school. Enjoy your evening with him, sounds like you both deserve it especially after that painful kid, and his mother.

blackeyedsally · 26/08/2014 16:34

Is his mum Katie Hopkins?

SauvignonBlanche · 26/08/2014 16:35

Hope you enjoy your meal. Smile

shebird · 26/08/2014 16:40

Sounds like you DS could do without this kid as a friend. I have had some rude and difficult kids for play dates but they just don't get invited back. I would be mortified if my DCs behaved like this.

strawberryangel · 26/08/2014 16:46

You and your son sound lovely, OP. You are amazing to have effectively built yourself up twice!

The woman and her son sound dreadful...as do some of the pathetic pizza snobs on here. It's pizza, ffs. Pizza express is not at all posh! Pizza hut is delicious- chunky greasy cheesiness! Followed by ice cream factory- heaven! I'm really rather jealous. Sadly my budget won't even extend to Dominos this week, so I'll be sat at home with my boring dinner.

LoveBeingInTheSun · 26/08/2014 16:52

We'll know you she is just what you already thought

saintlyjimjams · 26/08/2014 16:57

God they all sound hideous.

Esmum07 · 26/08/2014 17:03

Pizza Hut a bit common and low quality eh?

I would have said "well, so are you!"

AgaPanthers · 26/08/2014 17:17

Do you live in Essex?

Laymizzrarb · 26/08/2014 17:18

How lovely your son sounds. With sensitivity to apologise for his friend; obviously a credit to you. Maybe time to chat to your son and explain how he is not responsible for anyone else's behaviour and if being around someone makes him uncomfortable, or embarrassed about their actions, then he does not have to be their friend. And that true happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want. The cow! There are families who would love a meal at PH, but sadly can't afford a treat like that.
Have a smashing time with your well mannered son!

fishdishwish · 26/08/2014 17:22

I love both Pizza Express and Pizza Hut equally! And this thread had just reminded me how long it is since I last visited a Pizza Hut. IIRC, you get a free go at the salad bar now, although they seem to have reduced the range somewhat.

On a more serious note, it's amazing just how much vitriolic social snobbery there still is in this country. It seems to be getting worse rather than better sometimes.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 26/08/2014 17:39

I was at Pizza Hut yesterday. My kids love it and me it's been a perfect place to get them used to restaurants tbh. I used to go straight after school when quiet in there originally. But now anytime as they're better behaved Grin

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 26/08/2014 17:43

This thread has also reminded me that it is years since I went to Pizza Hut. We normally go to Pizza Express with Tesco vouchers, or an independent.

What puts me off is that I like my pizza very thin and crispy, and at PH it looks rather thick and doughy, but I also see that you can get a medium pizza to takeaway at lunchtime for a fiver, so I'm going to be brave and try one of those next time I fancy going out for lunch (usually take leftovers to work).

OTOH, I prefer to just get a frozen one to cook at home and then have something else when eating out.

Taffeta · 26/08/2014 17:43

Your son does sound lovely, op. Smile

What an appalling woman. Delicious irony that she thinks she has one up class wise. How very common to give a shit.

JanaOfTheJungle · 26/08/2014 17:54

I have used this thread with my 9yo DS who has borderline ASD and is OBSESSED with money in all forms and varieties. He seemed a bit taken aback that talking and asking questions about could hurt people's feelings so we talked for a while about it all. It will be a topic we return to, I'm sure. I'll make sure!

WeHateAmy · 26/08/2014 18:04

It's melted cheese on bread, how much more superior can the one overpriced fast food chain restaurant be to the other?

Aeroflotgirl · 26/08/2014 18:07

Invite her round for one of these, tgey feature a lot on my play dates Grin

I want to go to Pizza Hut now. But if I go to Pizza Hut, I will also go to the Hobbycraft that's in the same shopping centre, and I will buy more yarn, and then I will be in even more trouble with dh and the dses! :D. I'll force myself, though!

HKat · 26/08/2014 18:10

Hope you and your son enjoy dinner! ??

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/08/2014 18:10

Grrr - that was meant to be a grin, but I used the FB emoticon. Blush

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 26/08/2014 18:14

What a bunch of twats. I'd have taken the little fucker to Greggs!

Pipbin · 26/08/2014 18:17

What an utter cow. Her DS is going to get the shit kicked out of him at school isn't he?

Primadonnagirl · 26/08/2014 18:29

I do feel a bit sorry for the kid though...if he's never been told any different maybe he's just used to repeating rude remarks.Although by 12 you would have thought he'd developed some social awareness! Hopefully some of your sons intelligence and sensitivity will rub off on him before he gets isolated completely.

PiratePanda · 26/08/2014 18:34

"Oh my god, seriously? You go to Pizza Express? Chavtastic. We only ever eat homemade pizza or, occasionally, get it shipped in from Fortnums."

It really sounds like some of the parents don't have enough in their own lives to occupy them. What kind of person spends time discussing house sizes with their DC or building up a profile of a fellow parent based on bumping into them at the supermarket?
