OP posts:
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/08/2014 20:19

Hopefully there won't be any corruption and it will be counted fairly.

Don't know about corruption, but Wings has people observing the count almost everywhere.

squoosh · 27/08/2014 20:20

I bet Jackie Bird has a sparkly, sequinned frock picked out for the big night.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/08/2014 20:21

If it's close the wait will be longer, god help us if we are hanging in til the 20th! Nobody will get any work done - the world will be sitting at work hitting the f5 key repeatedly!

SantanaLopez · 27/08/2014 20:22

WTF are Wings doing anywhere near the counting?

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/08/2014 20:23

Bahahahaha, bastions of impartiality! Grin

I vote tartan Grin

All registered participants are entitled to have observers in the counts. I'm sure some on the No side will have observers too.

cozietoesie · 27/08/2014 20:27

Sorry - I think Jackie Bird's shroud will be either sequinned or cloth of gold.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/08/2014 20:30

It was more the concept that their presence would provide any reassurance...I wouldn't trust the owner to feed my cat!

Celticlass2 · 27/08/2014 20:34

Ooh the excitement. We might get a takeaway in our house. It'll be like the Eurovision waiting for the votes to come in Grin

squoosh · 27/08/2014 20:36

Or like a really long and drawn out World Cup final penalty shoot out.

I will be drunk as a skunk.

SantanaLopez · 27/08/2014 20:38

I cannot wait for this to be over. I can't even bloody drink.

squoosh · 27/08/2014 20:42

I will generously drink on your behalf.

SantanaLopez · 27/08/2014 20:46

That's a big responsibility squoosh Very serious stuff.

Grin
StatisticallyChallenged · 27/08/2014 20:47

I'm teetotal squoosh so you can have my share too!

SantanaLopez · 27/08/2014 20:51

Squoosh will know the results around Christmas at this rate Grin

squoosh · 27/08/2014 20:55

Thank you Stat I kindly accept your offer.

I might channel a bit of La Bird and watch the results in a little sequinned number.................swooning over Glenn Campbell and Brian Taylor.

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 27/08/2014 20:56

Much like the World Cup, I don't really care about the outcome anymore, I just want it to be over.....

(Tongue in cheek smiley)

Toadinthehole · 27/08/2014 21:19

I suppose the urban areas will turn their results first. Given that urban areas are more pro Indy, it'll be game over if Yes is behind after the first hour.

It'll be a it like a GE night, when Labour always roar into a massive lead, with the Tories playing catchup. I am such an anorak

Sallyingforth · 27/08/2014 21:36

I suppose it's because this referendum is a once in a lifetime event. Many of us will never have this opportunity again in our lives.

If the result is No, you can be sure the SNP will push for another try in ten years or less. And again, until they get the result they want.

Remember, 'No' have to win every time, 'Yes' only have to win once.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/08/2014 21:54

Accurate and thoroughly depressing sallyingforth

My only hope would be that (assuming this is a no) the politicians behind future referendums will learn from this one and have a more robust plan

tilliebob · 27/08/2014 22:07

Was just saying exactly that today Sallyingforth. It's depressing as hell.

PhaedraIsMyName · 27/08/2014 22:20

WTF are Wings doing anywhere near the counting?

They are extremely biased and aggressive organisation. They are not a political party why should they be allowed anywhere near the count?

PhaedraIsMyName · 27/08/2014 22:22

I suppose it's because this referendum is a once in a lifetime event. Many of us will never have this opportunity again in our lives.

Only if it's yes. The nats won't stop banging this drum.

OOAOML · 27/08/2014 22:24

Wings are registered as an official campaign body. So are the Orange Order. I hope there isn't trouble. I imagine they will have more people counting than normal to cope with the turnout, and more campaign agents from all the different groups. It will be packed in there.
