I have a leak somewhere in my roof.
2 weeks ago, I contacted a couple of companies to ask them to come and take a look at it. They couldn't fit me in until September. I explained I couldn't wait that long and at about the same time, my friends partner who is a roofer offered to come and have a look at it for me.
I asked him how much he charges to take a look and he said he would look for nothing then quote me.
All fine so far.
He agreed to take a look last weekend because he is doing this alongside his regular job and only gets weekends off.
I said either day at weekend would be fine so long as he let me know which day so I could make sure I was here to let him in.
Didn't hear anything more so phoned him during the week and left a message asking him to confirm which day he was coming to look.
Heard nothing back.
Thought I would try to contact him again so left another message the Friday before last. Again no reply.
Waited in all weekend. He didn't show up so on Monday I phoned another roofer I found through a friend.
The 2nd roofer is away on holiday and has a back log of work to complete upon his return. I left a message with my contact details.
First roofer contacts me on Wednesday to say he can come and look this weekend so I assumed I had got the arrangement mixed up and it was always meant to be this weekend. I said that would be fine.
Again I asked roofer 1 to just let me know which day over weekend he'll be coming and he promised he would.
I contacted him again on Wednesday to confirm he is definitely coming. Left a message asking him to contact me. No reply.
He contacted me on Friday to confirm he would take a look this weekend but wasn't yet sure which day so I said fine, just let me know which day so I can make sure I am in.
All goes quiet until this morning when he rings again to apologise because his phone is broken and he cannot ring me from his mobile and he hasn't been home until now to ring from landline. 
He then said he would pop round to look today.
Again I said 'That'll be great! !'
That was 3 and a half hours ago! !
I've heard nothing more and am getting seriously pissed off now and feel like pissing off out!!
How long is it reasonable to wait?
He comes highly recommended, but only for his workmanship not his ability to get back to people promptly. I cannot for the life of me understand how he manages to get work.
AIBU to piss off out and just find someone else to do the work even if that means waiting longer which I'll probably have to do anyway?
The annoying thing is xp is a roofer and comes highly recommended but has dipped out of dc's lives atm because while he is a highly recommended roofer, he is a crap dad.
