To feel very very cross right now because of our house alarm going off at night

We are at our 'holiday' home. It was our previous house and we haven't been able to sell it yet. We have an alarm. For the past few nights the blasted alarm has been going off wrt a certain door. When we cancel, it goes off shortly again (can be numerous times in a row). There isn't a pattern, but it is going off repeatedly since 1.20am. Just goes off at night. Rang alarm co. and some guy said nothing they can do. Engineer has to come. We rang the maintenance number on friday to arrange an engineer and woman said they would need to do diagnostics over the phone before she'd arrange an engineer. We were away from home so couldn't do diagnostics and will have to ring her again tomorrow.

The way a fault is programmed to go off in the middle of the night is a design for torture. Feel like ringing them everytime the alarm goes off so they can share my experience. I can't even take a hammer to it because it is wired to the electricity mains.

Are you resetting it each time?

Pangurban · 25/08/2014 04:44

No, it won't allow keypad access. It is not responsive to anything but disarming. Of course this is only temporarily because the alarm goes of again and again and again....

YANBU but I think your neighbours have more cause to be annoyed

insancerre · 25/08/2014 07:02

Can you just not turn it off at the mains?

Andrewofgg · 25/08/2014 07:06

What 500smiles said. Your neighbours are suffering. Turn it off at the mains.

It needs disconnecting. Unfair to keep it set.
