a month away from the vote thought it would be interesting to ask

( no bunfighting , derision or soundbites please. just yes or no and why. feel free to post more than once with different reasons. No links unless independent fact or opinion, nothing from the official campaigns)

I'm a YES

because Westminster's failed to protect the vunerable and the UK's me first politics have taken us down a particularly nasty path. An independent Scotland leans towards to left and can potentially choose a better route. And if a change happens in scotland then I think that that could inspire a change in the direction of politics in the rest of the UK.

Alex doing a great job tonight. Darling angry and rattled.

nancy75 · 25/08/2014 21:01

I'm not Scottish and don't live there so Scotland so I won't give an opinion on whether you should go or not BUT i think it is shocking that Scotland is expected to vote on something so massive when there seems to be so much uncertainty about loads of stuff. Surely this should all have been sorted out and decided a long time ago.

Snapespotions · 25/08/2014 21:01

Really? I assumed that most of the yes campaigners would be cringing. I'm embarrassed for you. Confused

OOAOML · 25/08/2014 21:02

Fanny is very loyal to her cause.

squoosh · 25/08/2014 21:02

Meh. I don't think either are doing much to win new fans.

squoosh · 25/08/2014 21:03

I wish he'd stay behind the podium, that 'reaching out to the audience' thing is cheesy.

Snapespotions · 25/08/2014 21:03

I agree squoosh, neither of them are very strong. Disappointing debate...

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/08/2014 21:03

What debate are you watching FannyFifer? So far he's refused to answer on currency again, patronised the audience and said he'll refuse to pay debt...how is that good? Is that really what we want from the potential leader of an independent Scotland?

FannyFifer · 25/08/2014 21:03

Not cringing, well only at Darling.

tilliebob · 25/08/2014 21:03

I'm with you Nancy except I am Scottish, I do have a vote, and I'm perfectly happy being a Scottish Brit. Loving the spin all over Facebook over every little comment in this "debate" Confused

OOAOML · 25/08/2014 21:04

I think you're right squoosh but then I also think a lot of people are massively fixed in their views t this stage. Even undecideds that I've spoken to have generally had very clear leanings one way or the other.

Roseformeplease · 25/08/2014 21:05

Can anyone see Salmond with his fingers in his ears shouting "La la la. I'm not listening?"

ChelsyHandy · 25/08/2014 21:06

I almost feel sorry for the man and his ilk. It must be awful to be in such a public position without much case. It cannot be good for anyone's health.

I think the internet might give a rather distorted opinion of opinion in Scotland at the moment. I hope that in itself doesn't damage business confidence. I get the impression that the Yes campaigners are increasingly viewed as cranks, but I accept that is my viewpoint and I might be getting the wrong one.

Is the debate being televised in England and Wales too? Surely its noticeable that Alistair Darling is getting far more clapping after anything he says than Salmond?

FannyFifer · 25/08/2014 21:06

Answered currency perfectly well, will be negotiating for plan A, he said what the other options would be.

No currency union, no assets, no debt.

squoosh · 25/08/2014 21:06

Yes, I think most people, whether they're admitting it or not have made up their minds. These debates are good entertainment but I'm not sure if they have much effect on winning people over to one side or the other.

AmIthatHot · 25/08/2014 21:07

Salmond doing nothing to make me want to vote Yes. I'm undecided but not inspired

OOAOML · 25/08/2014 21:07

Yes, on BBC2 I think,

Oh, audience getting rants now.

LatinForTelly · 25/08/2014 21:07

And no financial credibility with the rest of the world.

Is there a watch with thread, or are we using this one?

squoosh · 25/08/2014 21:08

Maybe they're going for a tad too much audience participation.

WhatTheFork · 25/08/2014 21:08

Goan yersel wee wummin Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/08/2014 21:09

Currency is not an asset. It's not listed in the whole of uk accounts. which he has said will be the basis for negotiation. The debt is...

Assets include basic fundamental infrastructure - no assets, no debt DOES NOT WORK. Unless you want to rent our roads, water pipes...

FannyFifer · 25/08/2014 21:10

Darling #telt by the audience!

squoosh · 25/08/2014 21:11

I forgot how irritating Glenn Campbell is.

ChelsyHandy · 25/08/2014 21:11

...or alternatively, why has the Scottish Government not done better already?

nancy75 · 25/08/2014 21:12

chelsyhandy yes - I'm watching in London.

From a truly impartial viewer nobody is coming out well -tbh I don't think I would want to back any of them
