To think sharing videos like this on FB is NO use and is awful?

A friend on FB has just shared a video of a man hitting small children in what according to the semi illiterate ranting beneath it, is within a "hostel"

The place and the kids look American but that's all the information given. It says "Plz share dis film of this bastard Sir of hostel who think he can hit other peeps kidz in the hope to find him"

Or some such crap.

AIBU to think that without ANY additional information, this kind of sharing is pointless?

I don't want to see upsetting things like this on my FB page! It was playing of it's own accord when I scrolled down....I feel like unfriending the guy who posted it!

Yanbu in this not being pleasant to see but I saw something like this about a year ago on fb. And it was shared and went viral, well what do you know someone recognized him and he was found. Sometimes it is helpful.

I just feel that in this case, it needs some information. And I feel somehow violated in having seen it! I thing a warning might have been a good idea. Thuogh for some reason vids seem to just play on my page without me pressing play.

The person who constantly posts stuff like this on my page is family and I cant really unfriend without lots of trouble.

I think this stuff is awful too.

I don't like to say it but it feels like people who post a lot of this stuff have an almost unhealthy interest in it.

If you go into settings you can stop them automatically playing MrsW

MrsW the one I saw was so distressing I felt like crying over it. What was more disgusting was someone was actually filming this man beating this child.
Anyway the short version was someone recognized him and he was found.

I had the dreadful picture of the poor man about to be beheaded.

I couldn'took if course. Ok know what You mean op but also maybe sharing things like this does catch people.

I am so upset by it. It wasn't especially violent but the kids were so small...under 6.

I think the child being beaten was more upset. The child felt it - you just saw it.

Yanbu, more often than not people don't check to see it's real, if they've already been found and so on.
