There is just something wrong about it, IMO.

And I've just tried it, and it's actually quite difficult.

Can you show us a picture, please? I've never heard of tying laces in a different way.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/08/2014 21:18

What do you mean? THere's only one way to tie laces isn't there?

thereinmadnesslies · 15/08/2014 21:18

I can only tie laces bunny ears style

ilovepowerhoop · 15/08/2014 21:19

dont know what you mean

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 15/08/2014 21:19

Do you mean by making two loops and tying them together?

RaspberryRuffle · 15/08/2014 21:19

YABU. As long as the laces are tied what's the problem?
I've always tied laces that way. I think it's easier to learn that way.

ilovepowerhoop · 15/08/2014 21:20

raisingchildren.net.au/articles/pip_shoelaces.html - is this what you mean? Looks wierd

Dazedconfused · 15/08/2014 21:21

My dh still uses bunny ears to tie his laces. I laugh about this and tease but he is right in saying it means always even

ilovepowerhoop · 15/08/2014 21:21

or weird (wierd looks weird!)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/08/2014 21:22

I do it by making one big loop, wrapping the other end round the base of it and then pushing that through itself to make the other big loop, I didn't know there was any other way. I've always been puzzled by the trend for having no bow, just the cross cross bits showing and the ends presumably tucked in somewhere.

HSMMaCM · 15/08/2014 21:23

That's how my big brother taught me to tie laces (don't do it now).

WhispersOfWickedness · 15/08/2014 21:26

I can only do it that way. It's because I taught myself, and by the time anyone noticed, I'd been doing it too long to change the habit Grin

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 15/08/2014 21:28

I just taught my DDs how to tie laces this way. Had Velcro up until now... Will teach the regular way once they master bunny ears. I am thinking other kids at school may tease otherwise.

sooperdooper · 15/08/2014 21:29

I always think bunny ears style is for kiddies who haven't learned how to do it normally, but I guess it's not the end of the world!!

Crusoe · 15/08/2014 21:29

Bunny ears is much easier I always tie laces that way!

I didn't know there was any other way...

Creatureofthenight · 15/08/2014 21:31

I still tie mine that way. DH did try to teach me the 'proper' way but still can't quite get the hang of it!

Fubsy · 15/08/2014 21:31

Lots of children find laces difficult - especially when parents and teachers prefer Velcro for speed and ease and its became harder to find smaller sized shoes with laces.

Occupational therapists often teach bunny ears to children as its easier and does the same job. If a child can manage that but not the "regular" way, does it actually matter?

StillaChocoholic · 15/08/2014 21:34

Currently trying to teach an 11 year old how to tie laces. Might teach him this way if it's easier

Panzee · 15/08/2014 21:34

I can only do bunny ears. I occasionally try the "proper" way but just can't. :o

PseudoBadger · 15/08/2014 21:35

Holy shit my mind is blown! www.fieggen.com/shoelace/knots.htm

I wonder why no one ever taught me any other way? Gone are my days of double bunnying my ridiculously short and slippery running shoes laces!

BathshebaDarkstone · 15/08/2014 21:37

YABU, but it is a bit weird... [hmmm]

FrancesFarmer · 15/08/2014 21:37

I'm overwhelmed by that link, PseudoBadger. I will be sticking to the bunny ears style for life, than you very much! Grin

DoJo · 15/08/2014 22:40

It is a far superior way to tie laces for three reasons:

The knot is more secure and less likely to come undone
It is easier to do, especially when you're little
King Rollo did it that way when I was a kid, hence I do it that way

In all seriousness though - why shouldn't they?
