MIL comment about my cooking

Sunday I invited DP's mother over for Sunday lunch, peeled and chopped all the veg, everything my self. Had it waiting for her on arrival, I then made Eton Mess - her absolute favourite.

After dinner we put on some DVD's and all sat on sofa watching them, a nice afternoon.

Then DP's brother came round and had some desert etc I went into living room and I could hear DP's mum saying "Oh it was lovely, in spite of the frozen veg"

IT WAS NOT FROZEN!

My DP jokingly ripped into her "Ommmmm Alex is going to be so pissed" etc etc

Is this insulting?

It would never cross my mind to serve anything other than frozen veg and Bisto.

She sounds horrendous. Of course she meant the frozen veg comment as a dig. Sounds like she just likes being nasty though.

How badly did you over oik the veg for her to think they were frozen? :o

Seriously though, if someone has taken the time to cook for you and invite you over you show some appreciation. She was unbelievably rude and knew where the door was if dinner wasn't up to her standards.

She sounds like a hideous bully. I would spend as little time as possible with her. Calling her gd a "fat little bitch" would be a deal breaker for me.

Frozen veg is very obviously different to fresh veg. She must be completely lacking in taste if she can't actually tell the difference.
