To be cringing and thinking we can't ever go back to that barber shop

Today both DS and I had haircuts (DS is 9). His hair was quite long and he has had it cropped very short. On the way home, when the sun came out, I noticed a few little dark dots so at bathtime I just did a quick check with the nit comb - and he was fairly nit-ridden. Argh! The barbers must think we are a revolting family of infested slobs...

I'm surprised they didn't say anything. At the hairdressers DDs use, you would be asked to leave and to pay for the gown and any brushes that have touched your head.

Vitalstatistix · 12/08/2014 22:07

Your son is NEVER 9! Shock It has NOT been that many years we've been on here Grin

sorry. that's truly not the point.

I wouldn't worry. I am sure they see it often. It can't have been that bad or surely they wouldn't have cut it?

But yes. You're going to have to find another barber Grin

sunbathe · 12/08/2014 22:07

Surely they didn't notice?

paddyclampo · 12/08/2014 22:08

Maybe they didn't notice?

HeartShapedBox · 12/08/2014 22:08

surely if the barber had noticed he'd have taken you aside and discreetly told you?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, they'll have seen worse Smile

ithoughtofitfirst · 12/08/2014 22:09

LMAO that's so embarrassing

katd999 · 12/08/2014 22:12

Don't worry, if they'd seen the nits they'd have refused to cut his hair. My sister went to get her hair cut once , she didn't know she had nits, but hairdresser found them and told her they couldn't cut her hair.

helensburgh · 12/08/2014 22:15

I. Sure they see them so often they didn't notice

mummy1973 · 12/08/2014 22:23

Either way you can go back.
Gosh we've had nits so many times over the years. I wait for the next time and am not embarrassed. If your children don't get them you are very lucky and hairdressers see them all the time. My hairdressers daughter just got them!

SolidGoldBrass · 12/08/2014 22:29

We have had nits before, and did have an outbreak about 6 weeks ago, which I thought I had dealt with Blush. Oh well. Glad they didn't ask us to pay for everything we had touched FFS, couldn't possibly have afforded to.

they didn't see them or they wouldn't have cut your hair. my friend does mobile hairdressing and she wouldn't cut anyone's hair if she saw nits not even mine

ashtrayheart · 12/08/2014 22:39

Don't worry. I went for a pedicure once and the person doing it told me as I had a verruca (I hadn't noticed) she couldn't touch my left foot Confused she looked really disgusted and I felt awful! At least the barber can't have noticed Grin

ICanSeeTheSun · 12/08/2014 22:45

The title should have had a warning, now I'm itching like mad and wet combing my hair.

Still funny.
