To think if your leggings have the appearance of 40 denier tights

You should not wear them as trousers.
The amount of people I see wearing very see through leggings with little crop tops or tops that sit on the waist line with their knickers clearly on show is astounding. Do people not realise that this is akin to going out in just a pair of tights and short top? Do people even look in the mirror before they leave the house?

Is it actually fashionable to let your fat hang out?

This is a serious question. I am from the generation that held it all in and I am intrigued by how many relatively slim girls I see with stomach overhangs. They look sort of proud of them. I'm kind of fascinated.

heythatsnotme · 07/08/2014 19:45

Capi, I guess I just genuinely don't know why people care.

I mean, I do go about my business and see an array of people looking odd, big, small, and it registers briefly then move on.

I just can't imagine caring beyond that.

Fruityb · 07/08/2014 19:45

Leggings. Are. Not. Trousers.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/08/2014 19:45

I put strapless elasticated maxi dresses in the same catergory.

If you have a good firm bust or you can wear a strapless bra, then fair enough.
But if your norks are round your waist, a strapless braless dress will not enhance them.
(I saw a woman from the back (mercifully) pushing a trolley. She was leaning forward, the dress was round her waist at the back, so God knows where it was at the front Confused )

I'm just waiting for someone to trip on the hem and hoik their dress down My eyes, my EYES

feelingmellow · 07/08/2014 19:48

I was horrified to see a friend walking towards me with what looked like a teeshirt covering just below her hips and with bare legs. I honestly thought she had forgotten to put her trousers on. As she came nearer I could see she was wearing pale link leggings. Not a good look.

Deverethemuzzler · 07/08/2014 19:55

I wear leggings a lot.
Nothing wrong with leggings. Very usual item of clothing.

See through leggings look like crap and I don't care if I am judged for judging.

I don't care if you are thin, fat, pretty or not. I don't care if they are leopard print or bright orange.

They should not be see though.

I don't want to see your pants and your arse and whatever else you keep down there.

CherryEarrings · 07/08/2014 19:56

If you have a huge dimpled backside why would you wear any type of pale stretchy fabric over it? You don't have to see it but you should show a bit of consideration for the poor bugger behind you.

And don't say that you don't care because I don't believe you.

Missunreasonable · 07/08/2014 20:00

If people didn't care they wouldn't bother to comment on the thread.

Labels, knickers, dimples, bruises, tattoos.

A couple of times I've actually laughed before I can catch myself when someone has bent over their buggy in front of me.

Not a good look....

Fairylea · 07/08/2014 20:08

Cherry if you're overweight (as I am) then wearing tight garments holding everything in isn't comfortable especially in this weather. I'd much rather wear something cool and comfortable and if people feel horrified by the size of my size 18 body then that's their issue, not mine.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/08/2014 20:09

The thing is, it wouldn't even matter if they were see through, if people wore tops that covered their arses with them. Even the non see through ones look stupid worn as trousers.

PumpkinPie2013 · 07/08/2014 20:13

I work in a college and see loads of students wearing see through leggings with short tops.

Looks awful.

As does young men wearing their jeans/trousers so low down that their underwear is on show!

They must honestly think it looks good Hmm

TheXxed · 07/08/2014 20:14

I also feel the same way about bicycle shorts.

phantomnamechanger · 07/08/2014 20:17

pumpkinpie YY to jeans with the crotch dangling mid way to their knees! I get the urge to come up behind them and lift them up by their belt loops and shake them into their trousers like one does with a toddler Grin

CerealMom · 07/08/2014 20:30

Xxed, plenty of club cyclists around my way. Nope, I don't mind one bit hanging back in the car. For safety's sake you understand (bendy roads), not gauping at lovely muscley thighs...

handcream · 07/08/2014 20:31

Sorry but surely someone overweight cannot think its a good look. It's worse when someone is overweight sorry it is!

handcream · 07/08/2014 20:33

I have a DS who wears his trousers like this and very stupid it looks too......

TheXxed · 07/08/2014 20:34

Grin I wish the guys who cycle over Vauxhall bridge every morning looked as good.

Shorts so tight you can make out each ball in their nutsack.

Lally112 · 07/08/2014 20:36

Mine resemble Suisse cheese, I clearly didn't look in the mirror, not that I really care though. Too old, too tired and too fed up.

handcream · 07/08/2014 20:37

I am a size 10 but have big boobs - 32ff and they have dropped. No way would I go bra less, or wear a strapless dress. It just doesn't look right. I wear a properly fitted bra and it isn't the most attractive thing but it does do its job.

Would love to wear those cute vest tops but they are out too!

ForalltheSaints · 07/08/2014 21:35

It is a faux pas on the lines of sandals and socks or the knotted hanky as a sun hat.

BlinkAndMiss · 07/08/2014 21:56

Yeah but I'd rather see a knotted hanky as a hat than see through leggings, far less offensive to my eyes :)

Keepcalmanddrinkwine · 07/08/2014 21:58

It is a faux pas along the lines of forgetting to put on your skirt or trousers.
:)

appealtakingovermylife · 07/08/2014 22:10

There was a lady at our local primary who caused quite a stir last year when dropping off/picking up her dc.
She had thin black leggings on with a short top, different one each day I must add, but very very distinctive knickers which she wore for FOUR days in a row:(
Somebody pointed out that she could have 4 pairs of the same knickers but apparently this had happened before, several times!

Flipflops7 · 07/08/2014 22:12

Blee is such a good word, Blithereens Grin
