ShamHargasGreasyVest · 06/08/2014 17:37

Yum.

PedantMarina · 06/08/2014 17:39

All right, that does it!!!

I've been pondering a name change for months now. The second I get home to my laptop, it is so on...

Plumpciousness · 06/08/2014 17:40

Not on MN but I was Wuffles on another forum.

Now inspired to name-change to something DW-related...

MagratsHair · 06/08/2014 17:42

Some bloody inspired namechanging here! Grin

AppleCrumples · 06/08/2014 17:46

Ooh I love a bit of Pratchett. Currentlt on Witches abroad. Discworld books are what I read when my anxiety gets me.

MavolioBent · 06/08/2014 17:50

Ta daaa!

Thelongdarkteatime · 06/08/2014 17:54

captchaos it's sort of a geeky double reference. Partly to Douglas Addams and partly the dark references in Thud and Teatime from Hogfather. Really geeky I know.

CaptChaos · 06/08/2014 17:59

Geeky is good! We intersect in our geekiness Smile

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 06/08/2014 18:07

Me too. They are like a big comforting hug.

Thelongdarkteatime · 06/08/2014 18:08

The discworld books are partly how I got through my final year exams many years ago. My comfort blanket read.

ImperialBlether · 06/08/2014 18:10

One of the characters in my novel has a TP name Grin

ShamHargasGreasyVest · 06/08/2014 18:15

Hmm. I'm thinking of a steamy novel better written than the awful 50 Shades but I can't really picture the main male character as a Gaspode somehow, which was the name that sprang to mind.

Uptheairymountain · 06/08/2014 18:15

Yup, obliquely, but definitely inspired by my favourite TP novel.

Annarose2014 · 06/08/2014 18:19

Am I the only one in the universe to HATE Sam Vimes?

Anyone?

Just me???

........I'll show myself out.....

Grin
MrsTerryPratchett · 06/08/2014 18:21

Mmmmmm Terry is awesome.

ShamHargasGreasyVest · 06/08/2014 18:23

Make sure the door doesnt hit your arse on the way out>

TheGonnagle · 06/08/2014 18:28

Evening all. There a lot of TP name on here aren't there? My cat is called Greebo. Unfortunately he's scared of everything, including flies.

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 06/08/2014 18:31

Shock at Annarose

Shock

What...? I mean....why?

Vimes is the BEST. The best anything ever.

ApplebyMennym · 06/08/2014 18:36

I wanted to be "Buggrit, millennium hand and shrimp" or "hats! That's what you think" but neither work quite as well without punctuation. And they're probably too long.

Is Embuggerance a Pratchett word then? My beloved Grandad has been using it for years, I didn't know he was a fan!

Thelongdarkteatime · 06/08/2014 18:38

anathema I totally agree. Smile

CMOTDibbler · 06/08/2014 19:09

Embuggerance is how TP announced that he had been diagnosed with dementia.

My darling mum also has dementia, and has read TP with great enjoyment as long as I have (I can date this exactly as my brother brought the Colour of Magic and the Light Fantastic at the station coming back from his first university interview and he got off the train eulogising about them), but for a woman only seen without a book when moving or with both hands occupied (and then she might be listening to an audiobook) dementia has taken her ability to read.

TP is a comfort read for me too - a big hug of words, and I'm still finding things I missed the first forty time round

Kickassandlollipops · 06/08/2014 19:40

Does anyone else buy the paper backs to read and the hard backs to stroke?

MagratsHair · 06/08/2014 19:51

I bought some Unseen Library leather bound special editions. Can I get any geekier?!

Thelongdarkteatime · 06/08/2014 19:53

I also have them on kindle as well as hardback and paperback Blush. My house is full of books in my defence, kindle saves space (or so I try to convince dh; doesn't work so well when I have three copies of the same book!)
