BillDoor · 13/03/2015 11:18

I snaffled this name. From my favorite book and my favorite name change! (His Name change I mean...)

GoddessErrata · 13/03/2015 11:47

Goddess of Misunderstandings. Seemed an apt name for me...

Going to read all my favourite books again!

AdoraBell · 13/03/2015 11:50

You can add me To the list.

BikketBikketBikket · 13/03/2015 12:02

Took my name from the Abbot when he's reincarnating -- seemed very appropriate for MN...
I'm hoping that my purple lilac tree flowers well this year, in memory of someone who brought so much pleasure into so many lives Sad

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 13/03/2015 14:26

Oh my god yes biscuits have been known as bikkets for years in this house!

ishallnamehimsquishy · 13/03/2015 14:36

I used to be leonardofquirm for a while but I can't remember my login from then so I've lost him. :(

TheGonnagle · 13/03/2015 14:39

Checking in, with a sad song in my heart today. I shall wear the lilac.

WeeMadArthur · 13/03/2015 14:46

Have changed name since I heard the news, always wanted to be a Nac Mac Feegle!

aziraphale · 13/03/2015 15:34

Hi :)

MrsRosyPalm · 13/03/2015 15:46

NC for now

Elvish · 13/03/2015 15:56

Forgot about this thread, I've been so sad but have no one in RL who will feel the same way so I'm glad to have found you all again.

LadyTmalia · 13/03/2015 16:05

Have name changed to my fave named character - couldnt add the ' though :D

EsmeWeatherwax · 13/03/2015 21:50

I've been Esme Weatherwax on here for a long time! Can't believe I haven't seen this thread before. I keep seeing lovely things written about STP and bursting into tears.

Out0fCheeseError · 13/03/2015 21:54

Oh, that cartoon is brilliant and funny and poignant and rather perfect.

GladysTheGolem · 13/03/2015 21:58

Esme, that cartoon is lovely.
I nc for another thread and every single Discworld related name I wanted was already gone, wonderful that he touched so many of us.

StackladysMorphicResonator · 13/03/2015 22:20

Please could you all add your favourite quotes from TP? I'll start.

“Five exclamation marks, the sure sign of an insane mind.” (I use this at work at least once a month).

“The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.”

“It's not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren't doing it.”

sob Sad

I can't remember the exact words but the one about a poor man buying a ten dollar pair of boots every year because they wear through. A rich man can afford a fifty dollar pair of boots that last ten years. After ten years the poor man will have spent a hundred dollars and still have wet feet. Sums up my life.

AdoraBell · 14/03/2015 16:54

That's Sam Vimes's logic re the boots, he could save up and by leather boots but keeps on buying the cardboard ones that he thinks his salary and place in society permits. Right now I can't think of which book it's in.

pointythings · 14/03/2015 17:05

I use 'I can't be doing with this' regularly and have never realised it is a Pratchett-ism!

I've been saying it a lot lately, for various reasons.

Nanny0gg · 14/03/2015 17:06

What a wonderful cartoon.

Thank you Esme.

TiggyOfQuirm · 14/03/2015 17:32

I thought I should adapt my name for a bit.

The petition.

lilacmamacat · 14/03/2015 21:35

thanks for the link, Tiggy - nearly 24600 signatures!

OokMyBanana - love your name. Am scrabbling for a NC...

Is there anyone out there who does like Rincewind? I always want to give him a massive slap.

MrSlant · 14/03/2015 22:45

Can't feel the cobbles through $50 boots though, Sam Vimes can feel his way round the city though the soles of his cardboard boots.
