To think that the table in an Indian restaurant is not the place to change your baby's nappy

So me and my DP were having lunch in an Indian restaurant today when a couple came in with their children. Shortly after sitting down my DP noticed that the mother had just started changing the baby's nappy. Now I will say the restaurant was empty, just us and them, but I feel it wasn't really the place to change a nappy (just three tables away from us) while we were eating, not to mention the fact that the mother couldn't wash her hands or dispose of the presumably wet (there was no smell) nappy.

No, it's gross and very poor manners

We did consider it, but by the time we had got over the disbelief that she was actually doing it, she had finished, and the offending nappy was in her bag .

Yuck what a filthy couple. Don't know if they were brought up in the bush. What type of people think that's ok. I would have complained to the staff, I'm sure they would have a problem with that too!

My friend once changed her DSs nappy on the stools in Brantano in front on everyone. I was mortified.

AFAIK No baby has died from being a wet nappy for an extra 10 minutes while an appropriate changing place is found.

One of my friends once changed a poopy diaper in a Cafe Rouge. My husband and I were sorely embarrassed. She was looking for our support when the manager chewed her ear off and we just stared at our shoes.

That's just fucking gross! I wouldn't have kept quiet. It never fails to amaze me just how totally disgusting some people can be, and they're bloody oblivious. "Brought up in the bush".

OnceI took my dc to a soft play centre & I couldn't believe it when a mother in the toddler play area changed her child's pooey nappy in front of me.
Some ppl are just disgusting.

on or at the table. One is only slightly more gross than the other! I once watched a mum change a nappy on the table of a m+s cafe at a busy lunchtime. Several tables were gawping, mouths open. Amazingly no-one said a word.

A member of staff at Lloyds bank told me that she was chatting to a customer in an interview room when that lady just put her child on the desk & started to change its nappy mid conversation.

I know some people have a certain view of banks, but I mean!

Definitely not unreasonable. Food and nappies/toiletting do not mix IMHO. I had my judgy pants hooked yesterday when a couple at the next table to us cafeteria style place) got out one of those portable potties and preceded to let their DC have a wee in that on the floor. Then disposed of the liner in the cafe bins .

Urgh, dirty bastards yet I bet they'd be the first to complain if someone did it to them- that type usually are.

In response to nicename, it was done AT the table, as opposed to ON.

I think changing a baby in any sort of 'public' place is not on, but especially when it's somewhere serving food. The most public I have ever done is on the back seat of the car, or in the buggy (outside and discreetly) when out and about and no toilets available, or the toilets were too disgusting to contemplate changing DD. In the absence of a sink I wet wipe my hands- it's better than nothing!

Euw. ExSIL once changed DN's shitty nappy on our coffee table, even after I told her she could use the spare bedroom or the bathroom when she asked where she could do it.

I used to work for a well known retail establishment at one of their stores on Oxford St. I was having lunch with a few colleagues in the staff room and we were all sitting round a large communal table when a visitor from our head office who had brought her baby into the store for some reason came into the room and proceeded to change the baby on the table while we were all eating.

At no point did she ask if we minded or even apologise. Amazingly selfish behaviour.

The worst or rather most public place I have changed a baby was on a registrars desk at a wedding in Spain. To be fair to me I asked where to do it, and they told me the table.

I was but don't think I misunderstood. It was horribly smelly too. Yuck.

PS the wedding was over at that point. ( I cleared the place!)
