To think that I can't be open minded about something this creepy?

I was trawling through Amazon for the purpose of updating my Kindle with all the free/cheap books I could find, when I came across this

'Tom rescues Ruthie from an abusive relationship, and during a three-week stay at his cottage on the coast, gives her the opportunity to truly be herself. During this time she acts out some of her fantasies as she relinquishes her insecurities and responsibilities, experiencing some of the carefree activities of childhood - including fun on the beach, donkey rides, cuddles, playing with toys and dressing in cute little girl clothes. So convincing is her little girl persona that the local shopkeeper thinks she is Tom's young daughter.'

I thought I was pretty open minded, anything goes between two consenting adults, etc etc, but really?

I get that some people are into very different things, but I just find this bloody weird. The man in this book gets a girl to pretend to be his daughter so he can fuck her? What?

Are people actually into this sort of thing?

is hopelessly naive

I'm also not sure it would be illegal to write about underage sex either Bertie, would it?

MadameDefarge · 05/08/2014 17:20

you can write what you like. If you publish it it might be considered obscene, and therefore subject to the Obscenity Laws.

Paedophilic writing, eg, is considered obscene and therefore illegal.

Anarchy99 · 05/08/2014 17:23

Its nothing to do with children.

I have seen a couple of articles about it. It is apparently an extension of BDSM (although without the whips). And some people like to give up control, so I think its part of that.

Not my bag, but it takes all sorts!

GhettoFabulous · 05/08/2014 19:28

Neither age play nor pet play are necessarily also humiliation play, or have a D/s dynamic. It's often about being nurtured and cared for, or about being carefree. For some people it's about the dynamic - not everyone dresses up.

windchime · 05/08/2014 19:35

Is it any weirder than adults raving about childrens' books Harry Potter.

Blu · 05/08/2014 19:51

The 'customers who bought this also bought...' list is even more horrible. Some hideous titles. Actually, I wish I hadn't clicked on this.

Blu · 05/08/2014 19:55

I realise it isn't about child abuse...but judging by the blurb for this book and the others listed underneath there is indeed much BDSM within the stories.

I don't think it should be banned or anything like that - just that on MN one person's fantasy is another's trigger.

HappySeaTurtles · 05/08/2014 19:57

Wait until Christmas. That's when all the Santa and Krampus erotica comes out. Grin

flyingtrue · 05/08/2014 20:17

It's a kink, you can find much much weirder, fiction wise, online. For free and otherwise. YANBU to find it bloody weird, it's not your kink, not mine either I might add. Some people find my mild kinks extremely weird. Different stokes for different folks.

Bad plot though, poor porn belongs on weeping cock (the website). Or maybe I'm strange for thinking smut should be plotty and well written.

Even weirder (to me) is the adult baby fetish.

phantomnamechanger · 05/08/2014 21:22

can someone please explain in a very gentle way what on earth is dinosaur porn Shock and ectoplasm porn Confused no way am I googling or clicking any links!

flyingtrue · 05/08/2014 21:52

I googled it. Person on dinosaur and person on ghost. There's nothing really freaky popping up in google just a link for a descried 'fucking the T-rex' fic or fanfic.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 05/08/2014 21:52

Best title I've ever seen is 'Knocked Up Dino Romp'

(here if anyone is curious - it's an amazon link to the Kindle book witwww.amazon.co.uk/Knocked-Dino-Romp-Pregnancy-Space-ebook/dp/B00I9HZHZY )

This is the synopsis -

Warning! This is attended for adult audiences only. Who enjoy some dark fantasy in their pregnancy erotica and do not shy away from extreme themes. It is all in fun and is intended for entertainment purposes only.

Under the care of the King Pterodactyl Alice has given birth to her triplet alien babies. She has sworn to be his forever to protect her lover and her three young daughters. Now Alice is to be his mate as the last female of his kind has long died out.

As her pregnancy advances, Alice finds herself falling more and more under his strange spell. Will she find a way to escape with Stud, her alien lover? Or will she betray him for her new dinosaur mate?

Bloody Hell!

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 05/08/2014 22:00

(should note, I am not a customer of erotic literature, particularly not dinosaur-alien-pregnant erotica... my OH writes and publishes non-erotic sci-fi and this came up in the 'people who bought this also bought' list Grin )

Paedophilic writing, eg, is considered obscene and therefore illegal

really? What about Lolita?

phantomnamechanger · 05/08/2014 22:07

thank you flying

MadameDefarge · 05/08/2014 22:09

well indeed, Lolita has had its run ins with obscenity laws.

But I suppose with that its the intent of the book that counts.

I have my problems with it, I have to say.

Despite understanding all the yadda yadda about intent, and marvellous writing etc.

MadameDefarge · 05/08/2014 22:18

but its not intent is not to titillate or arouse paedophilic sexual responses.

shareacokethissummer · 05/08/2014 22:21

I am pretty sure it is to do with children, in fact. It's easy to argue this isn't the case but the removal of pubic hair and the dressing in children's clothes lead me to think otherwise. It's inappropriate.

MadameDefarge · 05/08/2014 22:53

Hm. Not really. Adult paedophiles are not attracted sexually to adult women, even those pretending to be children.

Whatever their psychosexual pathologies, paedophilia is not part of it.

MadameDefarge · 05/08/2014 22:54

I should say adult male heterosexual paedophiles...

MostWicked · 05/08/2014 23:21

It really isn't anything to do with children. These are so obviously adults. It's play, it's roleplay, just like any other type of roleplay.

PhaedraIsMyName · 05/08/2014 23:36

Dinosaur porn sounds too ridiculous to be disgusting. Is it a bit like China Mieville's Perdido Street Station and the part insect character who has a human lover?

MsMarvel · 05/08/2014 23:37

I'm now worried about what Amazon is going to start recommending for me after clicking on that link...

SolidGoldBrass · 05/08/2014 23:53

It's just fiction. Why is this sort of thing so much 'worse' than fiction about brutal murders?
