He worked his full 22 years didn't he? From 1978 to 2001 he had a consistent Naval career. Served in the Falklands too if I recall.

He would have been been retired from his career, just as my DH was after 22.

DH isn't a Royalist at all, retired as one of those badgers arse grumpy NCO's, but he had a lot of respect for the Wales's after coming into contact with them at Windsor barracks and his friend training them at Sandhurst.
