To think this is a bit odd?

I was sat in a cafe with DS earlier today and the people on the table next to me leave a 3/4 full bottle of coke on the table when they go. Soon after a family get up to leave and on the way out the mum says to her DS "would you like some coke?" and gives him the bottle from the table. I know it's a real waste to leave that much however I wouldn't give my DS a bottle that a complete stranger had drunk out of. Also I wouldn't want my son to think it is OK to take food and other items from another person's table. I know there are more pressing things happening in the world however I just wondered if I am being a bit precious and that this is a perfectly reasonable thing to do?

I wouldn't take an open drink from anywhere purely because I don't trust the fact that it might have been drugged and also because of the hygeine issue.
I can't believe that somebody would give a strangers open and partly used drink to their child.

that is weird.. I wouldnever give my son coke off a stranger, it could have something else in it! I dont know what but.. you know

Yuck. No - not something I would do or encourage.

I wouldn't give my dc coke full stop but giving them a drink some random person has left is gross.

Glad it's not just me then! I used to work in a restaurant and I must have been the only waitress there who wouldn't pinch the odd chip off someone's plate before throwing the leftovers away, you never know what someone has done to it or what illnesses they have!
