In Colorado, here for 5 weeks.

Why the HELL is there a half inch gap on either side of the door in all public toilets?? You can see everything going on!!!
This has been the case everywhere I've been in America?
AIBU to be both baffled and embarrassed

lighthearted btw. I don't really think there's something wrong with the Americans

would you have kitchen scales in the house cheerfulyank or are they just not necessary for everyday cooking?

if not it must be infuriating trying to work out how much of that third stick of butter is the 23g needed to make it up to 250g!

helpful about butter. bananas do vary in size I suppose.

CheerfulYank · 07/08/2014 16:19

No, I don't know anyone with kitchen scales! I guess some hardcore dieters have them.

Poor ole sleepy herms. I got a lot of sleep because I overindulged on the wine and then fell asleep on the couch until DH woke me this morning. :o

PetulaGordino · 07/08/2014 16:21

were you drinking the wine in ml or floz or pints cheerfulyank?

CheerfulYank · 07/08/2014 16:24

The recipes using fruit like apples or bananas usually call for "two large". At least the ones here that I've seen.

When a recipe calls for a specific company's
"packet" it usually means the recipe has been developed/put out specifically by that company. They don't want an easy substitution for it, they want you to have to buy their product. :)

I was actually thinking of this thread last night as I was tipsily doing laps in my kids' backyard pool. :o

It's only three and a half feet deep and 15 feet across and I was trying to figure out how you would measure it.

I was probably quite a sight...swimming in circles muttering to myself about meters. Hahaha! I'm glad it was pitch black outside.

CheerfulYank · 07/08/2014 16:39

Did you miss the dimensions of said pool? :o It's one of those above ground metal framed jobs. It's up to my waist. No jealousy needed!
