To ask for your help in finding a marina/ quayside townhouse

Househuntingwoes · 31/07/2014 18:55

NC as I've been asking around IRL too.

DH and I would love to live in a townhouse on a marina or quayside.

Both of us are able to live anywhere in England except Devon or Cornwall (for work travelling reason) and don't want to be too far north (for weather reasons Grin)

The problem with having no real ties to where you want to live is that it makes narrowing it down hard!

We've seen houses we like at Salford Quays in Manchester, Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne and Port Solent near Portsmouth so that gives an idea of the kind of thing we want.

Are there any other similar developments we should consider (even ones that aren't built yet but are planned)?

But if you need to be in London, surely Swansea/Cardiff would work if you are considering Manchester?

gordyslovesheep · 31/07/2014 19:44

Birmingham and Liverpool are worth a look

Castlemilk · 31/07/2014 19:44

Oh sorry just realised you said you had to be IN England - so assume working in education or something.

Lots of house for your money

Househuntingwoes · 31/07/2014 19:49

Not education castlemilk but the company I work for only has offices in England.

I travel to lots of them so can be based pretty much anywhere in England as there will be at least one local office nearby (except in the bottom left ie Devon / Cornwall)

Where in Birmingham gordy?

millymae · 31/07/2014 19:53

Liverpool might be worth a look but it could be that all the properties are apartments rather than town houses.
There's also a lot of building work going on in Chester by the very busy canal but again it may be just apartments rather than town houses

Paddingtonthebear · 31/07/2014 19:58

What's your budget?

GalaxyInMyPants · 31/07/2014 19:58

Here. Also look on right move for burton waters for the non new houses.

SorryForTheTypos · 31/07/2014 19:59

millymae no definitively houses at Liverpool Marina. I posted link to one above.

I'm drooling at some of the links on here!

Househuntingwoes · 31/07/2014 20:09

Budget is £400k max and it has to be a freehold house.

Some food for thought though- keep them coming.

getdownshep · 31/07/2014 20:13

There are lovely canal side houses in Chichester, cant do links though I'm afraid!

Househuntingwoes · 31/07/2014 20:15

Can you give me any street names or postcodes to narrow it down getdown - I like Chichester.

OP posts:
getdownshep · 31/07/2014 20:19

Try googling Chichester Canal Basin, that's the area.
Sorry I can't be more specific,hth!

getdownshep · 31/07/2014 20:26

Try Canal Wharf PO19 8EY, on rightmove. That's brought up the right area.

Househuntingwoes · 31/07/2014 20:29

We are in a Beal home and it is amazing. (not at Burton waters though)

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 31/07/2014 20:33

Nottingham?

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 31/07/2014 20:35

Would you look at a waterpark-type place? Lots near Cirencester but not open waters - purpose-built parks around ex quarries.
Maybe Waterloo (Merseyside) or the Wirral?

Househuntingwoes · 31/07/2014 20:43

Not sure I know what a watermark place is shotgun but never say never.

We just really like the idea of having a view of boats.
