I am just fed up with it. World cup, Wimbledon, Golf, Formula 1, now the Commonwealth Games.

Why is it on the main channels? Why isn't it on BBC 3 or 4? Why is it on BBC 1, as if it is THE most important thing on TV?

I bet the audiences for the Commonwealth Games are not high. Even DH. is not watching it and he will watch almost any sport.

I think it is an imposition on the majority of the population and a huge assumption that we are that interested. Am I being unreasonable.

Yabu

It's fantastic, I love it all.

I wish the cricket was still televised on bbc and not sky.

What I didn't understand was why BBC 1 and itv both showed the world cup final. Definitely not necessary.

YABU it's great to have an alternative to soaps and rubbish. I've been watching it near-constantly when I've been in the house Grin

The cricket coverage on 5 live sports extra is pretty good but the highlights package on channel 5 is really crap.

i don't understand why the bbc can't have a sport channel, they had a zillion for the olympics. and the commonwealth games is boring and full of fillers. i don't see why we have to pay for the priviledge. though i only think bbc four is worth the licence fee tv wise.

Tbh I don't understand why the BBC don't have a soaps channel.

Having saturation sports coverage every now and again - usually in the summer when overall viewing figures are lowest - may seem annoying but I promise you i would prefer to be annoyed seasonally than every fucking evening. Prime time BBC is dominated by Eastenders and that it seems to be the main focus of Christmas. Utter, utter wank.

I couldn't care less about the sport intruding because most of the telly is utter rubbish these days so it's just one more thing I'm not too interested in. I wish they'd bring back stuff like Play for Today and interesting drama and stop feeding us the 96th series of some crap because no one's prepared to take a risk and commission something new and interesting.

I'm not a sports fan but I don't mind. Ds quite likes the sports and there are other channels/other things to do.

I'm a bit gutted that we have just moved from Sky to Virgin because we don't get Sky Atlantic anymore. I thought True Detective and Ray Donovan were brilliant.
I also think ITV drama is getting better - Broadchurch being an obvious example.

To the person who suggested there are already dedicated sports channels - well yes there are, for which you have to pay a premium for. So because I enjoy watching sport I have to pay for it?

The World Cup/Commenwealth Games are ONCE every four years. Wimbledon lasts a fortnight.

Whereas toss like Eastenders, Casualty, Holby City, Mrs Brown's Boys are on all the bloody time.

The BBC has to try and put on a wide variety of programming which of course means it will be weighted at a time when the events are on.
