Now I understand this may seem a crazy as fuq thread but I am being genuinely serious.

I have started a new job working in a childrens home. It as large family home with long hall ways. On my first day there when coming out of the toilet I saw something out the corner of my eye which I THOUGHT went into a bedroom. Now I could have just been scaring myself but it was definately something I noticed. The house just had a strange presence.

Now last night It was my first night shift. I felt like something was watching me and I kept hearing bangs and creaks. One of the young people who was there said to me that she felt freaked out by the house also.

A file of papers fell on the floor in another room and he did the ultimate no-no and went investigating. (Hasn't he seen horror films).

I was literally crapping myself and did not even go to the toilet. I said to my co worker that if I see a ghost I will leave the house.

He then went onto tell me that I am being unreasonble but in other children's homes he has worked out staff members have spoke about the same thing that I said but his explanation is that so many children who come to childrens homes have experience traumatic negative things and that this energy can attach itself.

Now this freaked me out even more and now I am worried about working tonight. Grin

I think you should bring your bikini and get changed into it before any investigations tonight. Wink

"I was literally crapping myself and did not even go to the toilet."

Shock You can't be serious!

hotdrinkandaliedown · 22/07/2014 17:48

I worked in a similar workplace and some of my co-workers felt similar 'negative energies'. I was blithely unaware of any bad energy but kept quiet as I was outnumbered, and very young.

In the end a cigar-smoking priest came and blessed the house with holy water, and then crystals were placed in relevant corners. It remains one of the most bizarre work situations I've ever been a part of.

Is this children's home situated by a lake? Perhaps with log cabins and a grave with a hockey mask on it?

If this is real, and you really did talk to oneof the vulnerable children you're supposed to be caring for about their home being "spooky" or whatever then you're an unprofessional idiot.
Grow up.

cardibach · 22/07/2014 19:13

My thought exactly Gruntfuttock! Literal crap and no toilet? Bloody hell that must have been unpleasant. No wonder you don't want to go back OP! :)
You are going to have to grow up, no excuses. Just get on with your job.

Mrsantithetic · 22/07/2014 19:17

If owt happens you need to run out the door. Not the stairs. They always go up stairs. Never do this.

Don't look in a mirror.

Don't shower.

Or don't be a dick and grow a pair Grin

HauntedNoddyCar · 22/07/2014 19:17

That's excellent advice about underwear Coco. Particularly if you're a bit flabby like me.

Get back to work!

MiscellaneousAssortment · 23/07/2014 02:09

Well you aren't used to the sounds and feeling of the house yet.

You could check for carbon monoxide levels as there is a correlation with people thinking there are 'ghosts' and 'presences', and low levels of carbon monoxide poisoning (symptoms: chills, cold spots, hallucinations, paranoia, trouble breathing/ hyperventilating etc).

I suspect it's pure silliness but maybe check it out in case.

But in any case, how strange to start running around being all paranormal believing when you have a responsible and important job. I'm with the others in saying get a grip, don't you dare freak out the kids living there, and just get over yourself!

MrsBoldon · 23/07/2014 07:24

I did a night shift on a adolescent MH unit years ago after watching 'The Ring'. Very disconcerting to be doing checks and saw a young girl with long dark hair standing completely still in the dark by her bed!.

I didn't let her know that though - because I was the grown-up in the situation!. I really hope you don't mean you've really discussed this with a resident there who's already going through a shit time.

Icimoi · 23/07/2014 07:47

You were literally crapping yourself? You do know what "literally" means, don't you? Were you sitting in pooey clothes all night?
