AIBU to run the house food stocks down

Before our family holiday. DH can't bear to look in empty (ish) cupboards & fridge the days prior to our holiday. I like the challenge of eating everything up & starting afresh on our return.

Sounds perfectly reasonable. Nothing worse than returning to a fridge full of rotting salad. Is he worried you'll come home ravenous at 10.30 at night to completely empty cupboards?

Depends! If your going away for a weekend/ week in the uk kinda holiday, then it's not really much different to running it down to get to the back of the cupboards, then stocking up again when it's empty/ you get home.

If your going for two weeks in the sun kinda holiday I could think of nothing worse than coming home and not even having the basic ingredients to whip up a tuna pasta if I'm hungry after the drive...

Ymbu- you might be unreasonable Wink

Leave the bare and non-perishable essentials and run the rest down.

I'm doing that now and will combine with a defrost of the freezer. We will be having fishfinger and sprout terrine in a few days.

As long as you're not getting back late and are expected to prepare something for ravenous family.

The first day back is always take-out night for us!

No you are clearly not being unreasonable to eat food in your house you have bought! .....
