Putting aside the fact she has in all seriousness pointed out how she is far more intelligent than her daughter who can only operate in an intelligent manner due to her parenting.

Is it just me who thinks it extremely a tad ironic that she is a psychologist, yet seems to lack the insight or understanding as to how her comments may affect her child or appear to others. Also surely being so informed and intelligent, she knows that yes you can parent without a detail understanding of neurolinguistic programming?

These poor children they are like little robots with personalities that are way to old for their bodies.

ouryve · 20/07/2014 22:37

I didn't realise this was on tonight.

Will have to catch up on 4seven (and hope I stay awake!)

DiaDuit · 20/07/2014 22:38

Poor tudor! Sad

squoosh · 20/07/2014 22:38

Poor little Tudor, that's way too much pressure for a little boy. Sweet to see his competitors comforting him.

ithoughtofitfirst · 20/07/2014 22:41

Aww when that kid cried. Tugged at my heart strings :(

goshdarnit · 20/07/2014 22:42

We were watching this earlier, dh walked in and asked ds, aged 15 what was on.
'It's a programme about child abuse' said ds.
My thoughts exactly.

Mordirig · 20/07/2014 22:46

Tudor broke my heart, telling his competitors to leave him alone, he probably finds comforting odd and isn't used to it.
I would love to know what his fathers done with his life apart from potentially destroy his children's childhood.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 20/07/2014 22:52

Children aren't projects.

squoosh · 20/07/2014 22:53

Why is Curtis dressed as Liberace?

DiaDuit · 20/07/2014 22:55

Shinyshoes! My ds would love those Grin

DiaDuit · 20/07/2014 22:57

Tudor seemed completely unaffected by his father's words of disappontment. Heard them all many times before no doubt Sad

NotBatman · 20/07/2014 22:59

What are you talking about?

Seeing your child as a pet to train instead of a little human with their own interests and personality never backfires. All those kids grow up fine and well adjusted with no issues of dependency, depression, or anxiety.

Stately homes? WTF is that?

Mordirig · 20/07/2014 23:02

Tudors dad is a cunt, there said it

DiaDuit · 20/07/2014 23:07

I tried to do those math sums the children were being asked but i've come away thinking the only thing i actually know for certain is that i like bacon. My brain just gave up and decided to think about what it knew for sure Hmm Grin

ouryve · 20/07/2014 23:12

Shoshana isn't that bloody clever if she can't work out how to parent without a load of buzzwords involved.

lougle · 20/07/2014 23:13

I don't buy the editing thing. Yes, your words can be cut down to give an inaccurate picture, but unless you've said them in the first place they can't be edited.

Picturesinthefirelight · 20/07/2014 23:13

OMG- one of dds best friends isis on there. Thinking back I do remember her saying something about applying to some programme but thought no more of it.

Dd & she are at different secondaries but they are still in touch. Can't believe she didn't say anything. !!!!

Vintagejazz · 20/07/2014 23:28

I have a 9 yr old nephew who's considered to be a bit of a genius. Nowhere on this earth or in this life would his parents allow him to be paraded on television like that or make his very high IQ be some kind of public knowledge, X factor type thing. They are far more interested in giving him a normal childhood.

shouldbeelsewhere · 20/07/2014 23:33

I buy the editing thing definitely (I was on a tv news thing where they wanted me to answer a question about difficulty, kept repeating it and very definitely wanted a specific answer. On TV it appears I gave that answer when what I actually said was it can be difficult but it's not a big deal, it's worth it") but I doubt they've had to do much to make some of those parents look back.

whitepuddingsupper · 20/07/2014 23:37

Poor bloody kids, let them play minecraft and make loom bands once in a while ffs.

Picturesinthefirelight · 20/07/2014 23:41

I'm stunned, absolutely stunned.

But she does have what I consider to be a normal life though she comes across with friends & sleepovers & school plays etc.

HeyBabyBaby71 · 20/07/2014 23:53

Although v smiley, Jocelyn's parents don't seem that normal... If every child decided that school wasn't for them after a morning spent there, then schools would be empty...

ouryve · 21/07/2014 00:00

Mordirig "maybe you're not as good as we thought." You are so right :(

I like Jocelyn. I'd rather her parents' lentil weaving approach tan Aliiya's woo genius mum who thinks that snow boots and suckers will make her all clever like her.

Sendintheshiraz · 21/07/2014 00:10

The poor little buggers. Tudor's Dad deserves a smack in the chops!

DiaDuit · 21/07/2014 00:11

I dont think jocelyn's parent are 'the norm' but if the parents of every child who decided they didnt want school were similar to jocelyn's then i dont think that would be an awful thing. She lacked focus (what age is she?) but for some children that comes later anyway. And some never develop it even with 14 years of school every day.
