...I feel so sad.
It's a tale of losing a friendship. At the end she has still lost it and she's still at rock bottom.
Is it just me?

Didn't she get the friendship back at the end though?

HolgerDanske · 19/07/2014 23:28

I really didn't like that film.

Couldn't see what the fuss was all about, really.

Bambambini · 19/07/2014 23:31

I laughed out loud a lot (on an overnight longhaul flight). Don't think it was sad at the end. She got her friendship back and a decent guy. Has been awhile since I've seem it though!

Galvanized · 19/07/2014 23:32

Not really reverend. She was allowed to the wedding and they had a boogie but Helen was still big on the scene and there was no apology from Lillian.

their friendship pulls through

life changes friends are sometimes crap but a real friendships has it's ups and down

I love the film

Galvanized · 19/07/2014 23:34

There were funny bits in the film, don't get me wrong, but I'm left feeling sad in the pit of my stomach. She doesn't have her friendship back like it was. She's still at rock bottom essentially.

I was going to add this to the "MN rules thread".

You will get posters telling you its crap and you shouldn't be watching it.

I watch it every time it's one, because Annie reminds me if my eldest DD, in some ways. The situations are similar to what I've been in, as well.

She gets her friendship back and gains new friends in Helen and Megan.

She also makes up with Rhodes.

It all gave her the kick up the arse she needed.

I thought it had a happy ending.

Galvanized · 19/07/2014 23:36

I saw their friendship irreversibly change though Freudian

Birds there is no way she has gained a friendship in Helen! It doesn't come across like that at all. I appreciate your POV though, maybe I'm weird...

I thought it was sad in the middle, but happily ever after by the end. I also thought it was really funny.

vindscreenviper · 19/07/2014 23:45

Is this the 'redemption through cupcakes' film?
it had some really funny bits, not worth getting sad about though, unless it touched a nerve?
It's a film OP YANBU to react to it however you want, it's all subjective.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 19/07/2014 23:45

I definitley thought she got her friendship back, as well as new friendships with Megan and Helen.

Megan is one of my absolute, all-time favourite film characters (and actresses, for that matter)

FreudiansSlipper · 19/07/2014 23:48

I did not see it that way

friends are not always perfect and they accept that and move on

her life hit rock bottom and her friends was going up and they were both caught up in that we are left thinking that her life may change and get better

MrsCakesPremonition · 19/07/2014 23:50

I thought the ending was rushed and unsatisfying.

Galvanized · 19/07/2014 23:50

Megan was a great character.
Maybe it touched a nerve vind, I miss the close friendships I had at school.
But I completely don't see that she made friends with Helen at all. Toxic woman. Surprised at that interpretation, her hug at the end wasn't sincere (was it?)

OP posts:
Sp1rals · 19/07/2014 23:51

But she got a man! The rest is way less important. She is validated as a woman now = happy ending.
Having said that I did actually enjoy it, particularly the speech dual and the part on the plane.

Galvanized · 19/07/2014 23:52

I agree MrsCakes - it was too rushed and insubstantial for me to trust that her life/friendship is okay now.

OP posts:
FreudiansSlipper · 19/07/2014 23:55

well yes she did get a man but got rid of a crap man realising she is worth more

she also started to make changes for herself and pulling herself out of a difficult time
