I can't due to the tablets I am on, it's been 3 weeks now.

Does the non alcoholic wine cut it.

We all need wine don't we

Alcohol free beer? Much much nicer than alcohol free wine, which has to be just grape juice.

AgentZigzag · 19/07/2014 20:13

Oh, YANBU y'poor thing Wine

I can't imagine non alcoholic being any good, nobody drinks wine because they like the taste!

Grin

It's the sharpness in your stomach of the first few mouthfuls...sorry Grin

How long have you got to go on the meds?

ICanSeeTheSun · 19/07/2014 20:14

It will be ok to have non alcholic beer/wine it will not have an effect on the tablets

ikeaismylocal · 19/07/2014 20:14

I'm having an alcohol free beer at the moment due to being pregnant ( otherwise I'd be enjoying a glass of cold white wine mmmm!) it's really nice and gives me that lovely relaxed feeling that an alcoholic drink does.

ICanSeeTheSun · 19/07/2014 20:16

Really haven't got an end date.

Kid off from school for 6 weeks, off sick due to just having knee surgery and no wine to look forward to, how will I cope.

Knottyknitter · 19/07/2014 20:16

Non alcoholic wine isn't great.

I had some at a BBQ last weekend, it's very sweet, and I like a good crispy dry white.

23weeks to go....

AgentZigzag · 19/07/2014 20:16

Non alcoholic is just torturing yourself isn't it?

Like wanting a bacon sarnie but having the veggie alternative.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 19/07/2014 20:17

Becks Blue or Bavaria 0% is much more bearable than non alcoholic wine.

AgentZigzag · 19/07/2014 20:17

You could take up smoking crack?

dottyaboutstripes · 19/07/2014 20:18

Are you sure you can't? I once asked the dr about it as my tablets said "no alcohol" and his exact words were "go ahead, you'll just get pissed really fast!"
Sorry - not really helping!

ICanSeeTheSun · 19/07/2014 20:19

I think it is.

My lovely but dippy friend bought around wine and flowers after my op and the bottle is talking to me

AgentZigzag · 19/07/2014 20:22

Have a google of the tablets OP, not that I want to encourage you to drink when you shouldn't be, but the thing about not drinking alcohol with antibiotics isn't true I think (or if it is true it's only for some tablets and not others).

ICanSeeTheSun · 19/07/2014 20:26

I'm on 8 co codamol a day which is 30mg/500mg each and 3 500mg ibuprofen

OP posts:
snowvelvet · 19/07/2014 20:37

You could, but trust me, one glass will feel like you have necked an entire bottle! The codeine in those tablets gives you a very similar feeling to pleasant pissedness when you first take them.

PosyFossilsShoes · 19/07/2014 20:38

I'm not drinking at the moment due to pregnancy so currently quaffing a Fosters Radler 0% "cut with cloudy lemon."

It's not the chilled glass of pinot that I was dreaming of on the way home but it's not bad. Smile

There is also Becks Blue, Bavaria alc-free, tins of shandy and elderflower cordial in the fridge, which are my alcohol substitutes at the moment!

x2boys · 19/07/2014 20:40

I couldn't drink the non alcoholic stuff personally I don't see the point when I was pregnant I just drank lemonade rather than non alcoholic would very low alcohol wine be an option?

standwellclearvehiclereversing · 19/07/2014 20:42

Torres Natureo is nice (IMO) but you need to make sure it's nicely chilled.

I hardly ever buy it ,though, as I resent spending £5.99 on wine with no alcohol in it Shock

AgentZigzag · 19/07/2014 20:43

Could you water it down with lemonade or something? If you only had a little bit it'd satisfy the craving with a nod to the tablets.

I just wanted coke and bitter lemon when I was pregnant, weirdly I still hiccup taking the first sip of bitter lemon which didn't happen before DD2, what's that all about?

AgentZigzag · 19/07/2014 20:44

Coca cola not coke coke! And not together with the bitter lemon, that'd be a step too far.

WitchWay · 19/07/2014 20:52

there is no poisonous effect with alcohol plus co-codamol, but one glass of wine will feel like several, making you a cheap date Grin

ICanSeeTheSun · 19/07/2014 21:04

I have no control once the wine is open the bottle must be drunk.

OP posts:
x2boys · 19/07/2014 21:08

Now you see I am like that so if I really can't drink its best not to open the the bottle but are you sure you can't drink on the 30\500 mg cocodamol?

x2boys · 19/07/2014 21:10

Not suggesting you drink the whole bottle but if you fell pleasantly pissed after one or two glasses everybody gains right?

WitchWay · 19/07/2014 21:12

You can get teeny little bottles of wine - you could drink a whole one of those
I keep them for cooking so as not to waste any of the drinking wine

Grin

Ooh try a little bit and see how you feel!
