to think "my pool, my rules"

We have a swimming pool in the garden. The garden has high fences and is not overlooked. When I have guests I will wear both halves of a bikini, when I am alone, I am happy to leave the top off and sometimes not to bother at all. My attitude is "my pool, my rules" and as long as I am not subjecting anyone else to my attire or lack of it to think that this is my business. Besides, I hate the feel of a wet swimming costume if I can avoid it.

Good Lord, you do your own swimming? How utterly dire. I have people that do my swimming for me.

mindthegap79 · 18/07/2014 22:08

Is it wanting a badge?

HavantGuard · 18/07/2014 22:12

No. You need to swim in pyjamas to get a badge.

BerylStreep · 18/07/2014 22:23

Sometimes I sleep starkers in bed!!

mindthegap79 · 18/07/2014 22:38

Ah yes, I remember, pjs so that you can inflate the legs and use them as a floatation device. Is that what you do op - is that why you're nude? Because you could probably just wear a pair of armbands.

KissMyFatArse · 18/07/2014 22:47

Joeymarnard yes. A mattress! Can you believe the luxury?!!

However in my scheme some folk look down on me for having one...

I may start a new thread about what I wear whilst sleeping on this fabulous mattress. You should do the same with your cardboard Wink

gordyslovesheep · 18/07/2014 22:51

don't skinny dip in a pool with the lights on AT NIGHT

unless you wish to wear a coat of moths

as I found out in Nice C1989 Grin

Dontlaugh · 18/07/2014 22:52

Isn't "Clunge" a Farrow and Ball colour? If not, it should be.
A deep murky colour, with hints of thistle and er, earth.....

Namechangearoonie123 · 18/07/2014 22:55

gamerchick · 18/07/2014 22:56

Dontlaugh · 18/07/2014 23:04

The pool fool?
The Clunge plunge?
The bikini twatini?

BolshierAyraStark · 18/07/2014 23:35

Awwww how lovely, my Olympic size pool is an indoor one. Not that this would matter of course as my manor house is completely secluded, I am not so common to have such a thing as 'neighbours'

Hmm
MerryInthechelseahotel · 18/07/2014 23:39

What's not to like op?

jaynebxl · 18/07/2014 23:45

I've just laughed out loud at this and woken my dh up. And we don't even have a pool!

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 18/07/2014 23:55

YABU - your rules should also be:

NO BOMBING
NO RUNNING
NO HEAVY PETTING
NO PEEING

HeyN0nny · 19/07/2014 00:11

Ooh, I was wondering about that pool/neighbour thread a couple of days ago - did the OP ever say/do anything? We were thinking of moving house, I got sent details of a house with a pool - all I could think of was that thread and whether it would be possible to secure the access to the garden... We didn't go to view in the end, thoughts of crazy neighbours put me off big time.

As for the OP, don't really understand what you're getting at. No more unreasonable than sunbathing nude in your back garden, which apparently loads of people do, according to Google Earth pics... I wouldn't, but then I'd be bloody unlikely to go in an outdoor pool in the UK wearing anything less than a full-body wetsuit.

Vingtdeux22 · 19/07/2014 06:34

OK, so a bit controversial to start with but tells me a great deal about Mumsnet. Thanks to those who commented genuinely. For the others, I guess I asked for it.

OP posts:
Greythorne · 19/07/2014 06:39

Not controversial at all.
Just pointless.

It's your pool, your clinger and your life.
We don't care.

Greythorne · 19/07/2014 06:39

Clinger??
Clunge

HecatePropylaea · 19/07/2014 08:02

Don't be a nit.
It was not controversial and the only thing it tells you about mn is that folks will take the piss if you ask a daft question and even more so if you don't give enough information for people to be able to answer the question you did ask.

HexBramble · 19/07/2014 08:12

Clinger?!?
Aahhhhhhaahaha!

Icimoi · 19/07/2014 08:22

I grew up in the US but now in UK and sense that attitudes toward such things are slightly different in UK

But why would anyone's attitude towards it matter, given that no-one sees you doing it, therefore no-one has anything to develop an attitude about? It's not as if a couple of million strangers on the internet know all about it, is it?

Oh, wait ...

No, it's not in the least controversial. You seem to think that you're being brave and daring, but you just aren't.
